The former President, Donald Trump has made his way into the spotlight after he reportedly stormed out of his $250 million New York fraud trial. The fiasco took place on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, when the judge denied Trump's attorney Cliff Robert's request to dismiss the trial, and throw out his civil fraud case.

As per CNN, Judge Arthur Engoron denied the motion following which the former President got up and threw his hands in the air, while saying “I’m leaving,” and walked out of the courtroom, leaving his own lawyers surprised. The incident took place moments after Michael Cohen, Donald Trump’s former lawyer gave a testimony about how Trump never instructed or told him to inflate the value of his assets.

Furthermore, on the same day, Trump was also fined $10,000 for violating a gag order, as during the break time, the former President spoke to the reporters and journalists about the case.

As soon as clips from the court were released, netizens started to share their opinions on the matter. Many people bashed the former President for his behaviour. One social media user also commented and said how Trump storming out of his civil fraud trial “feels like a skit.”

Netizens react to Trump storming out of the courtroom after the judge denied his request

Trump walked out of the courtroom, surprising everyone, shortly after a judge fined him for violating his gag order and then denied a defense attorney's petition for a ruling in Trump's favor. According to sources, the former President's abrupt departure prompted his own Secret Service agents to chase after him. Trump walked out while Michael Cohen was still testifying against him.

After Trump made his way back into the courtroom, Cliff Robert requested the judge for a directed verdict again but was rejected.

“Absolutely not. There’s enough evidence in this case to fill the courtroom," Engoron said.

Earlier the same day, the judge fined Trump $10,000 for once again violating a gag order, which forbids him from criticizing court staff. Defying the order, during the break, Trump told reporters in the hallway:

"This judge is a very partisan judge, with a person who's very partisan sitting alongside of him, perhaps even much more partisan than he is."

Judge Engoron described the comments as a "blatant" breach of the gag order. In his brief appearance on the witness stand before being fined, Trump informed Engoron that he had made reference to "you and Cohen" in his statement.

Netizens voiced their opinions on the matter, with many saying that the courtroom drama looked "like something out of a movie." Some saw the former President's leaving as an attempt to demonstrate his power, which elicited funny replies from other social media users.

Donald Trump’s $250 million lawsuit has been going on since September 2022, when New York Attorney General Letitia James filed the case against the former President, claiming that he indulged in fraudulent business practices by exaggerating the value of his assets. However, the former President and his officials have denied any such wrongdoing.

While the netizens cannot stop talking about the incident, at the moment, neither the ex U.S. President nor anyone from his team has spoken up about the matter.
