The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 2, aptly titled The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon — The Book of Carol, will see Melissa McBride, who played the beloved character of Carol, return as a series regular. Fans reacted positively to the news, which was officially announced during a panel at the 2023 New York Comic-Con.

The information comes after McBride made a cameo as Carol in Daryl Dixon (a spin-off of The Walking Dead) episode 5, as a voice on the radio. In a flashback sequence, Carol spoke to Daryl (played by Norman Reedus) over the radio, where she said that someone had "come back," but radio interference concealed the details.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 2 is titled “The Book of Carol”

The spin-off series was initially intended to focus on both Daryl and Carol. Melissa McBride had to briefly leave the project due to scheduling and shooting issues, but thankfully, she will return for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 2.

The long-running success of The Walking Dead franchise has made Carol and Daryl fan favorites, so their reunion is eagerly awaited. During the panel, actor Norman Reedus couldn't hide his excitement and showed his delight by saying,

"My good friend, the talented, beautiful Melissa McBride, will be a series regular for season 2. We couldn't be more thrilled."

Melissa McBride highlighted her excitement about continuing Carol’s tale, mentioning that she knew there was much more to Carol’s journey since she felt so uneasy when viewers last saw her as she watched her closest friend, Daryl, ride off. She added that Carol and Daryl’s tales run deep, and she’s delighted to continue Carol’s journey, whether alone or (hopefully!) together.

“This team of storytellers has done amazing work to land these two established characters in an entirely new world to them, and I’m loving the discoveries.”

At the event, fans of The Walking Dead were also treated to a fresh new teaser for the continuation of Rick and Michonne’s story titled The Ones Who Live. The series is set to premiere in February 2024 and is still growing, with more intriguing storylines and people on the way.

The season 1 finale of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon will premiere on Sunday, October 15, on AMC and AMC+, with McBride scheduled to make an appearance. The events that unfold on Sunday's season 1 finale may determine whether Daryl returns to Carol in America or if the latter travels to France in pursuit of the former.

Regardless, the dynamic team is at least now certain to be reunited and to start fending against both living and non-living foes. The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 2, which will premiere in 2024, is now under development.
