Comedian Jay Leno has shut down all conspiracy theories regarding why he was spotted with an eye patch, arm brace, and face bruise last month. The comedian was spotted with the injuries while stepping out in Beverly Hills in November 2024.
In an exclusive sneak peek of his upcoming interview on the Cars, Coffee and Comedy program on the YouTube channel Spikes Car Radio, Leno rubbished all conspiracy theories about his injuries. Some of the theories he addressed included people alleging he gambled his money and got into a fight, was "beaten up in a ritual," and owes a big family money.
The hosts read out some of the popular tweets from X, which Leno responded to. The conversation about gambling was as follows:
Host Spike Feresten:
"There are conspiracy theories that you had a gambling debt. Do you gamble?"
Leno:
"No, never gambled in my life."
Speaking further about the conspiracy theory suggesting he was beaten in a "ritual" that garnered 100K likes on X, Leno remarked sarcastically:
"I like that the mob would drive to Greenburg, Pennsylvania to meet me at the top of a hill and throw me down that hill."
After the TV star was spotted with injuries last month, he told Inside Edition on November 18 that the injuries came after he tumbled down a 60-foot hill and hit multiple rocks. Leno had suffered a significant amount of injuries on his left side and was seen wearing a patch on his left eye.
Jay Leno explained that he was staying at the Hampton Inn, around 30 miles outside Pittsburgh, that weekend. He tumbled when he was on his way to dinner at a nearby restaurant ahead of one of his scheduled performances. The comedian added that he had broken his wrist, lost a fingernail, and was “all black and blue."
Leno is best known for hosting NBC's Tonight Show from 1992 to 2009, after which Conan O'Brien succeeded him. He also ran a primetime show called The Jay Leno Show from 2009 to 2010 before his second stint as Tonight Show host between 2010 and 2014. He has also hosted other shows, including Jay Leno's Garage and You Bet Your Life.
Jay Leno's complete interview will be live on the YouTube channel Spikes Car Radio on Wednesday at 8 AM.
“It isn’t a big deal"- Jay Leno opens up on his injuries sustained after falling down a 60-foot hill
In an interview with TMZ in November 2024, Jay Leno shared details about his injuries sustained when he fell down a 60-foot hill in Beverly Hills. The comedian disclosed that he did not have a car on the night of his injury. The hotel staff, he recalled, had guided him to a route that involved a mile and a half of walking. Therefore, he decided to take another route where he sustained his injuries.
"The hill doesn’t look that steep – about 60, 70 feet. Let me see if I can down there… (he screams) and then I fell down, boom, boom, boom," Leno recalled.
Despite hitting “a bunch of rocks,” Leno did not stop himself from performing at his scheduled show three hours after the accident. The TV show host only received treatment after returning to Los Angeles.
“It isn’t a big deal, it’s alright," he said.
In his aforementioned sneak peek from his interview on Spike's Car Radio's YouTube channel, Leno also recalled receiving help from two women while he fell down from the hill.
"I’m falling, I see these two elderly ladies, one of them goes ‘That looks like Jay Leno falling down the hill," he recalled.
The TV star added that the two ladies gave him a ride to his destination after he sustained injuries from falling down the hill.
Leno's recent accident comes two years after the comedian sustained several serious burns on his face and body in November 2022. He had received treatment at the Grossman Burn Center in Los Angeles.
The TV show host had burns on his chest, face, and hands due to a fire at his home garage. Leno was working under one of his vehicles when the fire broke out. The comedian is known for his love for cars and boasts an impressive collection. Speaking to TMZ about his constant injuries and supposed bad luck, he said:
“The great thing about this age is that you don’t learn by your mistakes – you just keep doing the same stupid things.”
Months after sustaining burns, Leno once again found himself under medical care after breaking his collarbone and two ribs and cracking both his kneecaps. The accident occurred due to a motorbike collision.
In other news, Jay Leno is back to performing despite his constant injuries. The comedian is set to perform at Brown County Music Center in Nashville on April 24, 2025. According to a press release, he hosts over 100 stand-up comedy shows a year.
