The much-awaited presidential debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris took place on September 10 at Philadelphia's National Constitution Center. The debate quickly escalated into an energetic back-and-forth mode of attacks between the two candidates.
Harris's performance was praised, with pop star Taylor Swift showing her support for the Democratic candidate in an Instagram post shortly after the debate. Following the debate, Kamala Harris's campaign called for a second debate with Trump.
The debate, which shed light on several issues like the economy, abortion rights, and foreign policy, has sparked significant discussion online. However, after the news of a potential second debate surfaced on the internet, netizens flooded social media platforms expressing their take on this challenge by Harris. One netizen on X wrote:
"she wasn't finished with him"
Some of the responses found on X:
"She knows she cooked his a** im cryin," a user wrote on X.
"The fact she requested a second debate is how we know she won," another user tweeted.
"She cooked but she’s still hungry!" a tweet read.
While Kamala Harris received immense support from netizens after the heated debate on Tuesday, many X users had a different outlook towards the event.
"What happened in the first debate? You failed? Why does she think she needs a second chance? To do what?" a user wrote.
"It's interesting to see how each side thinks their candidate won. Politics is a funny game," a netizen commented.
"When was she going to answer any questions? All she did was BS the whole time," another one wrote.
Trump claims this was his "best debate" as Kamala Harris calls for second debate
As mentioned before, the debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris on Tuesday was heated and energetic. While it remains uncertain whether there would be another debate between the two candidates, it is confirmed that a debate between Minnesota Governor Tim Walz for Harris and Ohio Senator JD Vance for Trump has been scheduled for October 1.
Several of Harris's remarks gained attention, including her statement:
"First of all, it's important to remind the former president, you're not running against Joe Biden, you're running against me."
Although Trump claimed that the debate went well for him, he added that the moderators did not treat him fairly. As reported by the Associated Press, Kamala Harris later stated at an event that she and Tim Walz still considered themselves "underdogs" in the race.
Following Harris's call for another debate, Trump initially commented, saying that she wanted another chance because she lost the one that happened recently.
Upon being asked by Sean Hannity, Trump mentioned that he could think about it if it were to happen on a "fair network." Hannity suggested that he could be the moderator of the debate, to which Donald Trump said:
"I think it would be fair. You would be fair, actually, you want to know the truth."
As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen whether another presidential debate between Trump and Kamala Harris would take place in October.
