Russell Brand is being ridiculed by netizens over an instance of malapropism in one of his recent tweets about Kamala Harris. The English actor and comedian has voiced his opinion about Biden’s exit from the 2024 presidential race and his endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democrat contender, in his recent X posts.

He took to X on Monday and wrote:

"If Kamala Harris is to be the new pick in the 'bait n' switch', 'find the lady' cup n' ball trick that we are being offered in lieu of democracy, we already know she's a socially inept and empty instrument of intransigent, institutional power, solely offering cutaneous and genetic novelty to a famished pack of secularist devotees so bewildered that melatonin and an 'X chromosome' could represent to them some kind of pyrrhic victory."

Netizens soon took notice of the error in Brand’s heavily-worded post and pointed out how he used ‘melatonin’ instead of ‘melanin’, which would have made sense in this context.

Melanin is a natural substance present in human bodies that is responsible for pigmentation of one's skin, hair, and eyes. On the other hand, melatonin is a hormone produced by the brain that is instrumental in the sleep cycle in humans.

People soon responded to Russell Brand's post with mockery, noting how the comedian might have attempted to sound smart and eloquent, but ended up making a distinct mistake.

Others joined in the ridicule:

"This looks like he said to chatGPT "write like a senior in high school who doesn’t want to appear like AI wrote this"", wrote one.
"What on earth did I just read? Good grief", expressed another X user.
"also, everyone has an X chromosome. Women just have two", noted one person.

People derided Brand's use of too many unnecessarily complex words in a clustered way, that ultimately lacked lucidity and coherence. One user explained,

"That sounds like Logorrhea, a speech disorder characterized by excessive production of words, often lacking coherence or relevance to the conversation. It is commonly observed in mental disorders such as bipolar or schizophrenia".

Another commented,

"I think melatonin was a Freudian slip as he was thinking of how his tweets put people to sleep..."

Russell Brand shares his thoughts about Kamala Harris' Democratic nomination

In his now-deleted tweet, Russell Brand questioned Kamala Harris’ social skills and called her a representative of an institutional power that is unwilling to change its views. Brand added that Harris was being offered to the voters in a ‘bait and switch’ method, in the guise of democracy.

The 49-year-old controversial comedian called Harris’ followers secularism enthusiasts. Russell Brand added that Harris' supporters are too confused and they are happy about her win solely because she is a woman of color, and not due to her political competence.

In another video posted on July 22, Russell Brand claimed Kamala Harris is:

"someone who does not seem at ease around public speaking in particular."

He also called Donald Trump's mentioning Kamala Harris a "pretty heavy diss". Brand criticized Trump's assassination attempt and expressed the need for a better system.
