Australian breakdancer Rachael Gunn, best known by her moniker, Raygun, was mocked during the August 13, 2024, episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Actress Rachel Dratch mimicked the B-girl’s dance moves on the late-night show and left the show’s host in a tizzy.
Talk show host Jimmy Fallon began his monologue on Monday night by speaking about the Olympics. He said:
“Breakdancing made its Olympic debut and everybody is talking about the competitor from Australia, Raygun.”
Jimmy Fallon was then abruptly cut off by Rachel Dratch, who wore a costume that mimicked Raygun’s sportswear. She then parodied the Australian professor-dancer’s performance on the show by showcasing the sprinkler move and the infamous kangaroo hop. At one point, Fallon also joined her to showcase his dancing skills.
Speaking about Raygun’s performance, Fallon said, “she actually received zero points for that.” The latter also said, “You have to wonder where Raygun is right now.”
For those uninitiated, Rachel Dratch is an actress best known for her Saturday Night Live appearances. She went on to become the show’s longest-running female cast member.

Rachael Gunn lost all three rounds of the breakdancing competition as she battled against the USA, France, and Lithuania. Speaking about her performance, which sparked a memefest online, the Macquarie University professor said in a statement to the Australian Associated Press:
“I was never going to beat these girls on what they do best, the dynamic and the power moves, so I wanted to move differently, be artistic and creative because how many chances do you get that in a lifetime to do that on an international stage.”
Pop singer Adele was one of her many critics. She stated in her recent Munich concert that “Aaron, my percussionist is pissing himself laughing just thinking about it. I can’t work out if it was a joke but either way it has made me very happy.”
As Raygun was relentlessly trolled online, the breaking dancing federation publicly extended support to her and the Australian Olympic Team. The competition’s judge Martin Gilian also said in a statement that Raygun did her best to represent her country with “originality” which was what breakdancing was about.
Meanwhile, Japan’s Ami Yuasa won the first-ever gold medal in the women’s category.
