The “Terminus” is a community of hipster cannibals, and its members are known as "Terminants" in the television series “The Walking Dead.”

The Terminus cannibal community attracts human survivors to their compound by broadcasting messages like "Sanctuary for all, community for all, those who arrive survive." on the radio and on billboards. They welcome the survivors who get trapped by their broadcasts. The Terminants disarm and imprison them, only to consume them. The Terminants served as the primary antagonist in the season four finale and the first few episodes of season five.

In the initial episodes of season five, Gareth, Martin, Theresa, Albert, Greg, and Mike played the Hunters and followed Rick's group for a few days before capturing Bob Stookey, whom they then started to eat by dismembering. Before being knocked out by Gareth, Bob told them he had already been bitten by a zombie and began laughing at them.

In order to kill the weaker members first, the group decided to return Bob and count on Rick to lead the majority of the fighters out of the church where they had been staying. Thankfully, Rick and his fighters caught Gareth off guard and killed him along with his five companions. Rick and Tyreese buried their bodies outside the church.

How were Rick and the group captured by Terminus in TWD?

A sign attached to a railroad freight car and a map are found by Michonne, Rick Grimes, Carl, Maggie Greene, Bob, Sasha Williams, and Glenn Rhee. The railroad lines that go through various counties and end at Terminus are depicted on the maps. It appears to be in Bibb County, in Macon, Georgia.

In the episode "Us" of season four, Terminus makes its first physical appearance as Abraham Ford, Bob, Eugene Porter, Glenn, Tara Chambler, Rosita Espinosa, Maggie, and Sasha finally arrive there. One of the residents, Mary, welcomes them to Terminus and offers them a bite to eat. Mary and her son Gareth appear to be the leaders of Terminus. They suggest that the sanctuary has existed since the start of the apocalypse. Those who live here are referred to as "Terminants."

The group is surrounded when they arrive at an open courtyard, and Gareth tells each member of the group to proceed and enter a train car on their own. Glenn, Maggie, Sasha, Bob, Tara, Eugene, Abraham, and Rosita are already there when they enter.

It is subsequently established that Terminus is, in fact, a cannibalistic group, and that any newcomers to Terminus who refuse to join them or pose a threat are killed and carved up. Carol, who saw her friends being dragged from a train car to be executed, attacks the compound in an effort to free them.

She lets a large herd of walkers in after detonating a sizable tank of flammable gas. Numerous people are killed when the walkers take over Terminus. Terminus is left in flames and overrun by walkers as the group flees. However, Gareth and a few others survive, only to be killed later on by Rick and his group at St. Sarah's Church.

What is the Terminus' backstory in The Walking Dead?

After the end of the world, Terminus was initially established as a haven, posting signs and even sending radio signals. During those times, Gareth, Mary, Alex, and several other survivors ran it. However, later on, a group of bandits eventually took control of Terminus, imprisoning the original occupants, torturing the men, and raping the women.

After seeing his mother being raped several times, Gareth eventually lost hope for humanity and declared that he and others would either be "the butcher or the cattle." In the end, the people of Terminus rebelled against their oppressors, killing and devouring all but the leader, who was imprisoned as a punishment. For those who had died during the occupation, a shrine was constructed.
