The dwarf in "Game of Thrones" is Tyrion Lannister, portrayed by American actor Peter Dinklage.

Lord Tyrion Lannister, also known by the monikers Halfman and Imp, is a fictional character in the “A Song of Ice and Fire” series of epic fantasy novels by American author George R. R. Martin and its television adaptation, Game of Thrones, where he is portrayed by American actor Peter Dinklage. Tyrion, who first appeared in A Game of Thrones (1996), is a key character in the series and has the most chapters in the first five novels to be published.

Tywin Lannister, the head of House Lannister, one of the most affluent and powerful families on the fictional continent of Westeros, is the father of Tyrion, who is the youngest of his siblings. Tywin has disliked Tyrion since he was a baby because he was born a dwarf and his mother passed away while giving birth. Tyrion uses his ancestry as a Lannister to partially offset the prejudice he has experienced throughout his life, particularly from Tywin and Cersei Lannister. He drowns out his shortcomings in wine, wit, and self-indulgence.

In a fifth-grade production of The Velveteen Rabbit, Dinklage achieved his first professional success on stage. He was delighted by the audience's reaction as the lead actor. His acting abilities were honed while he was a student at the Catholic boys' preparatory school Delbarton School. He was motivated to pursue an acting career in 1984 after seeing a production of American playwright Sam Shepard's play True West.

Later, he enrolled at Bennington College, where he pursued a degree in drama and performed in a number of plays before earning his diploma in 1991. To start a theater company, he and his friend Ian Bell relocated to New York City. They left their apartment after failing to pay the rent. He spent 20 years in New York, mostly in the West Village and Williamsburg. Before deciding to become a full-time actor, he spent the following six years working for a company that processed data.

How does Peter Dinklage feel about Dwarfism?

Achondroplasia, a genetic disorder that interferes with bone growth, is a form of dwarfism that Dinklage possesses. He consequently stands at 4 feet, 5 inches tall, has an average-sized head and torso, but shorter limbs than average. Although Dinklage has learned to accept his condition, growing up with it was not always easy for him.

He claimed in 2003 that he used to be frequently angry and bitter about his condition, but as he grew older, he realized that "you just have to have a sense of humor to know that it's not your problem. It's theirs."

When asked in 2012 if he considered himself "a spokesman for the rights of little people," Dinklage replied: "I don't know what I would say. Everyone's different. Every person my size has a different life and a different history. There are different ways of dealing with it. Just because I seem to be okay with it, I can't preach how to be okay with it." Despite his own opinions on the subject, Dinklage is regarded as a role model for those who have a similar condition.

In his acceptance speech for Best Supporting Actor—Series, Miniseries, or Television Film at the 2012 Golden Globe Awards, Dinklage mentioned "a gentleman, whose name is Martin Henderson," and he advised the audience to look him up on Google. Henderson, a dwarf from Somerset, England, was severely hurt when he was thrown by a rugby fan inside a bar.

The act of dwarf-tossing received media attention after Dinklage's speech, and Henderson's name gained global attention on social media. Five years after the incident, in 2016, Henderson succumbed to his wounds.

Dinklage declined invitations to appear on talk shows to address the issue. In a later statement, he said that while he might have accepted these offers 20 years ago, he is now "a little bit more at peace with things, and I said what I wanted to say." "I have a friend who says the world doesn't need another angry dwarf."
