Ben Chan returned on Jeopardy! on Tuesday, May 23, to play his 10th game. Chan is a philosophy professor from Green Bay, Wisconsin, and has won $252,600 across the previous nine episodes. He had to defend his title against two new challengers by answering some tough knowledge-based questions.

The other players were Danny Leserman, a policy communications manager from Rancho Palos Verdes, California, and Lynn Di Vito, a retired museum educator from Colorado Springs, Colorado. The three competitors had to earn the maximum amount of money, awarded for each correct answer.

Today’s Jeopardy! winner is Lynn Di Vito

Ben Chan’s long-reigning victory came to an end when he failed to answer the final question, for which he had bet a lot of money. Lynn was not in the lead after any of the rounds but still earned the maximum amount of score by playing it safe.

The categories under the first round are Aviation, Super Bowl Winners By Quarterback, Animals In Literature, Historical Hodgepodge, “G”-Rated Words and You’re So Shellfish.

After a rocket start, Ben failed to answer a daily double and returned back to $0. He was still able to answer some questions in the second half of the game and led the round. In total, Chan gave 16 right answers and 2 wrong ones. Danny answered 6 questions correctly, along with 2 incorrect ones, and Lynn gave 5 correct responses and 1 wrong one.

The score after the round was Ben at $7200, Danny at $1600, and Lynn at $1000.

The categories under the Double Jeopardy! round were A Century Of Time Magazine Covers, TV Sitcoms By Family, A Country By Any Other Name, Medicine, The Judgment Of Paris, and Ends With A Silent Consonant.

Lynn jumped into the lead after getting a daily double initially. Ben missed out the second daily double but gave a very strong comeback in the end of the round. In total, Ben answered 24 questions correctly and 3 incorrectly. Lynn gave 14 correct responses, against 1 wrong answer, and Danny gave 9 correct answers, against 3 incorrect ones.

The score after the Double Jeopardy! round was Ben at $17,400, Lynn at $14,800 and Danny at $2400.

Ben lost $12,2021 in the final round while Lynn bet just $3000 on her incorrect response, reducing her earnings from $14,800 to $11,800.

Hence, Lynn Di Vito won Jeopardy! today.

Final Jeopardy! results today

The final question of Jeopardy! was under the category Shakespeare’s Characters. The clue for the question read,

"Both of the names of these 2 lovers in a Shakespeare play come from Latin words for “blessed”."

The correct answer was “Who are Beatrice & Benedick (from Much Ado About Nothing)?” The round was a triple stumper with no one earning any score. Ben gave the right answer but with the wrong spelling, which reduced his earnings by $12,201. Lynn and Danny lost $300 and $1400, respectively, by giving the wrong answer of Romeo and Juliet.

The final score of the game was:

Lynn Di Vito: $14,800 – $3,000 = $11,800 (Who are Romeo and Juli) (1-day total: $11,800)

Ben Chan: $17,400 – $12,201 = $5,199 (Who are Beatrice & Benedict?)

Danny Leserman: $2,400 – $1,400 = $1,000 (Who Romeo + Juliet)

After failing to win his 10th game, Chan will not gain the super-championship status but has already secured his place at the Tournament of Champions. Lynn will now defend her title against new challengers in the upcoming episodes, until she is defeated.

Lynn will be seen competing against Ed Peterson and Joyce Sun in the next game of Jeopardy!, which airs on Wednesday, May 24.
