After receiving advice from ABC executives to refrain from criticizing former President Donald Trump and Republicans every night, Jimmy Kimmel threatened to leave the show.

Jimmy Kimmel, the host of the late-night talk show, acknowledged in a podcast that he was ready to quit his job if he wasn't allowed to criticize the former president, Donald Trump. Kimmel said on Stitcher's "The Naked Lunch Podcast" that ABC executives advised him not to go after Trump and Republicans every night. Kimmel apparently disagreed with the idea so much that he threatened to leave if he wasn't allowed to continue criticizing right-of-center politicians. "I just said, ‘If that’s what you want to do, I understand and I don’t begrudge you for it,' but I’m not going to do that.'" On the podcast's episode, Kimmel said, "If you want someone else to host the show, then that’s fine; that’s okay with me." Jimmy added, "I’m just not gonna do it like that."

However, Kimmel also acknowledges that the ABC management was "right" to caution him about his behavior because he believes it cost him half of his audience. "I just said, ‘Listen, I get it.' I don’t disagree; I mean, you’re right. “I have lost half of my fan base, maybe more," Kimmel told the podcast hosts. Before Jimmy Kimmel started criticizing Trump and Republicans, he claimed "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" was the "most popular" late-night TV show for Republicans. However, ABC executives backtracked and haven't yet challenged Kimmel on the matter, according to the host of the talk show.

"They knew I was serious," Kimmel further stated that he “couldn't live with myself" if he refrained from criticizing Trump and Republicans. And Kimmel's complaints about Trump and the Republicans still drive him to criticize them on his show. On the podcast, he even expresses his desire to be "on the air when Donald Trump goes to jail."

What disease does Jimmy Kimmel have?

Jimmy Kimmel has narcolepsy, a sleep disorder marked by unexpected sleep attacks. His diagnosis serves as motivation for those with similar rare chronic diseases.

The Los Angeles-based comedian presided over "Win Ben Stein's Money" in the late 1990s and would nod off while putting on the show. "But that was probably a combination of the narcolepsy and Ben's voice," Kimmel said of the "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" star's famous monotone drone. "Truth be told, I’d rather have narcolepsy than not have it," when first making fun of the benefits of having the neurological condition, Kimmel told Esquire. "When I get on a flight to Vegas, I’ll fall asleep before the plane takes off and wake up after it’s landed." “I’m always very close to sleep."

On a much more serious note, the TV host has revealed that he was once pulled over by police after dozing off while driving; fortunately, no one was hurt. The husband and father of four claims to have received medication in the past, but it's unclear how he's doing right now. Although many people experience more severe cases that result in loss of muscle control, Kimmel has acknowledged that he is fortunate not to have experienced a severe case.

How much does Guillermo make on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!"?

Mexican-American talk show host Guillermo Rodriguez is frequently seen on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" as Kimmel's comic partner. Guillermo receives a $50,000 salary from "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" according to Celebrity Net Worth. It is estimated that he has a net worth of $2.5 million as of March 2023. Since the first season of "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" he has regularly appeared on the program and quickly won over the audience. Guillermo has had a number of other Hollywood gigs since becoming well-known on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" that have increased his wealth.

Rodriguez was a parking lot security guard when he landed his big break. Producers persuaded Guillermo to appear on the program in 2003, and it was there that he made his television debut alongside Kimmel's late "Uncle Frank" Potenza in the "Security Night Live" skits.

He eventually rose to the position of Kimmel's red carpet correspondent, frequently joking that the celebrities don't recognize him and parodying red carpet interviews by addressing the designer celebs with the question, "What the h**l are you wearing?" Since leaving "Jimmy Kimmel Live!," Guillermo has begun to regularly appear at the NBA Finals Media Day to speak with the players.

He persuaded players to sign a basketball netting during the 2015 NBA Finals by claiming to be a microphone while carrying around a basketball. Guillermo even made a fleeting, uncredited appearance as a policeman in Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" in 2017. He also appeared uncredited as the guy in the shower in the 2020 film "Bill & Ted Face the Music."

Is Jimmy Kimmel a racist?

A growing blackface controversy led to the announcement in June 2020 that Kimmel would be taking the summer off. Later, videos of Kimmel using racial epithets in a music video came to light.

Later, Kimmel apologized for his behavior and for taking so long to respond to the criticism. He stated, "There is nothing more important to me than your respect, and I apologize to those who were genuinely hurt or offended by the makeup I wore or the words I spoke."

According to Kimmel, the blackface was a component of the basketball player Karl Malone impression that persisted on The Man Show: "We hired makeup artists to make me look as much like Karl Malone as possible.” “I never considered that this might be seen as anything other than an imitation of a fellow human being, one that had no more to do with Karl's skin color than it did his bulging muscles and bald head."

The vacation, he added, had been planned for more than a year. Since then, he has made it a tradition to have guest hosts for the talk show each year in July and August and take the summer off. He also denied that his vacation was related to the blackface controversy.
