American actress, Shailene Woodley who gained fame for her role as Any Juergens in the ABC Family teen drama series, The Secret Life of the American Teenager, has at times also made headlines for her activism career. In 2016, Woodley was arrested during one of her protests along with 26 other activists, leaving many shocked.

For the unversed, Woodley is an avid environmental activist and climate advocate. She and her mother co-founded the nonprofit organization, “All it Takes’ in 2010. The organization focuses on "Educating the people to practice empathy, compassion, responsibility, and purpose in hopes to foster sustainable, positive changes for themselves, others, and the environment."

Shailene Woodley was arrested in 2016 when she, along with other environmental activists, was protesting and engaging in a riot against the Dakota Access Pipeline which was an underground petroleum transport pipeline. The same year, she was arrested in October for criminal trespassing in Saint Anthony, North Dakota.

The entire event was broadcasted during Woodley's Facebook Live, leaving her fans in shock and concern. Woodley along with 26 other environmental activists was arrested by the authorities. They later received bail after Woodley posted for one.

Woodley pleaded guilty and was sentenced to a year of probation by the court of law.

10 days after her arrest, Woodley spoke about her horrific experience via a piece that she authored for Time. She tilted her article, The Truth About My Arrest." She also spoke about the same during her interview with Marie Claire UK.

During her conversation, Woodley revealed that she was stripped naked and that the experience was "sobering" which left her with PTSD.

Woodley began by explaining that after all the cameras were gone, she was taken to the Morton County jail. Woodley said, "I was strip-searched. Like get naked, turn over, spread your butt cheeks, bend over.” Woodley also added, "When you’re in a jail cell and they shut that door, you realize no one can save you. If there’s a fire and they decide not to open the door, you’ll die. You are a caged animal."

Woodley also added that the entire experience left her with post-traumatic stress disorder which made her turn off her phone for three months. She said, "There was so much trauma." She also added, "Mine was like, 'What do I do now?' Kind of like a little bit of depression."

Woodley was last seen starring in the American science fiction rom-com film, Robots.
