What's the story?

Two-time Olympian Heena Sidhu lashed out at Indian cricket fans for blaming and trolling Anushka Sharma as a reaction to India's poor performance in South Africa.

The former World No.1 in 10 meter Air Pistol tweeted a long message in support of the Bollywood actress claiming that people just need a punching bag and a celebrity wife is quite an easy target compared to other people.

In case you didn't know

Virat Kohli, captain of the Indian Cricket Team across all three formats married his longtime girlfriend Anushka in December 2017. Anushka then accompanied Kohli on the South African tour.

The heart of the matter

Incidentally, the relationship between the celebrities has been the talk of the town for a long time. More often than not the Indian cricket fans have defied logic and blamed the actress for Kohli's failure.

However, in recent times these very fans didn't have much to say as India were beating anyone and everyone at home. But all hell broke loose as the Proteas defeated Kohli's men in back to back Tests. Kohli himself failed to get going with the bat in the first Test and Anushka became the butt of all jokes, again.

Sidhu, who is very active on Twitter and has time and again raised her voice on various issues, talked sense as she came out and supported the Bollywood diva.

What next?

The Indian Cricket Team will play the third Test against South Africa at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg before taking part in the six-match ODI series and three-match T20I series.

Author's take

It's very disappointing to see the Indian Cricket Team fans acting in such a manner and blaming someone who is not even related to the team. Such cases could easily be avoided in the future if eminent people spread awareness on this topic and the general public is made to understand the reason why they are wrong.
