OGQ signs 4 new shooters for 2016 Olympics

After a successful show at the London 2012 Olympics, not for profit organisation Olympic Gold Quest (OGQ), founded by sports legends Geet Sethi and Prakash Padukone, today announced that it has signed 4 new shooters to support their training for the 2016 Olympics:

Viren Rasquinha (CEO, OGQ)

“2 shooters supported by OGQ viz.Vijay Kumar (silver medal) and Gagan Narang (bronze medal) made the nation proud at the London Olympics. But we should not rest on our laurels. We have to build on this momentum and ensure that our young shooters get the best possible support right now.”

“OGQ will be preparing a 4 year road map for our shooters and ensuring that they get the best possible coaching, medical support, equipment and foreign exposure to improve their performance. We have already appointed a physio to be with them permanently at their training base. Our mental trainer Vaibhav Agashe will be also working closely with all the young shooters. All the 4 new shooters viz. Shweta, Amit, Smit and Ayonika are extremely talented and we are very happy to support them.”

Shweta Chaudhry:

“I was almost on the verge of giving up shooting as I was so frustrated with the lack of support. When OGQ signed me on, I was suffering from a major shoulder injury which was hampering my shooting. Dr. Nikhil Latey, Head of the OGQ Sports medicine team gave the injury his immediate attention and priority. Now, I am fine and re-energised and back to full training. This focused support of OGQ is crucial to our preparations.”

Smit Singh:

“I am very proud to get the support of OGQ. It gives me so much motivation to train harder and do my best for India.”

Ayonika Paul:

“Indian shooters have shown that they can compete and win against the best in the world. What we require is timely support and backing to give our best. OGQ has ensured this support and I hope I can win many medals for my country.”

Amit Pilaniya:

“OGQ will enable me to get more international exposure for training and competition. This is very essential to take my scores to a consistent world class level.”

Overall, 4 athletes supported by OGQ viz. Gagan Narang, Vijay Kumar, Saina Nehwal and M.C. Mary Kom won medals at the London 2012 Olympics. With the 4 new shooters added to the OGQ list, currently, OGQ supports the training of 27 senior athletes preparing for the Rio 2016 Olympics.
