Vijay Kumar: A Brief Biography

Vijay Kumar is a sport shooter from India, who is famous for winning silver medal in the individual 25 metre rapid fire pistol event at the 2012 Summer Olympics. Vijay Kumar appeared in the sporting radar as a prospective talent when he took home 2 gold medals- one for the individual 25 meter rapid fire pistol competition and another for the pairs competition in the same event together with Pemba Tamang- from the 2006 Commonwealth Games. The same year, he won a bronze medal in the Asian Games and the next year, a silver at the Asian Championship. He also won a silver medal at the 2009 ISSF World Cup Beijing in rapid fire pistol. In the 2010 Commonwealth Games held in New Delhi, he won 3 gold medals and one silver following a performance that can be termed impressive at the least. He is presently a serving Subedar Major in the Dogra Regiment (16th Battalion) Indian Army.
