#4 Transforming Eden Gardens into \'Garden of Heaven\'

Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman scripted one of the greatest rescue acts in cricket with a mammoth 376-run partnership for the fifth wicket on Day 4 of the second Test, in Kolkata, in March 2001.

Asked to follow-on, India staged one of the biggest escapes ever seen in Test cricket and romped to a 171-run victory.

#5 Humble on and off the pitch

India’s President Pranab Mukherjee presented Rahul Dravid with one of the country’s highest civilian awards, the Padma Bhushan in 2013.

Nine other cricketers have been awarded the Padma Bhushan, including Sunil Gavaskar and 1983 World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev.

#6 The day he conquered Adelaide

India earned a historic Test win against Australia at Adelaide in 2003, thanks to Rahul Dravid's epic knock of 233 and top-scored the run chase with 72 runs in the second innings.

Quite fittingly he bagged the man of the match award.

Dravid, the epitome of elegant defiance opened the innings for India, smashed an unbeaten 146 and became the first man to carry his bat against England since West Indian Desmond Haynes. England simply did not know how to dismiss him. Not properly anyway.

If there was ever a batsman who put a price on his wicket, it is Dravid. No wonder everyone calls him The Wall.

#10 Saving his childhood club from relegation after retirement

The venue was HAL sports club with around 20 spectators. His childhood club BUCC in the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) Group I Division II match needed a victory in order to not get relegated to a lower division.The head coach of the team requested Dravid to play. He agreed, played the match, scored a century and won it for them.
