Holly Holm has head kicked her way into the record booksThere is nothing more trending right now than Holly Holm delivering the biggest shock in the form of a stiff kick and few hammer fists. She handed Ronda Rousey her first professional MMA defeat and it was all done in some brutally glorious fashion.Holm stuck to her game. She did not leap into attack mode, she waited patiently, calm and composed and let Rousey try to begin the first flurry of attacks. What it did was only tire Rousey out and make her desperate as Holm went on to dominate, slowly but steadily.It was a memorable match in an event headlined by two matches involving female athletes. #1 Not supposed to face Rousey

Miesha Tate was promised a title bout with Ronda Rousey. It would have been the third match between these two fierce rivals, but it never happened.

It was soon announced that Holly Holm is the new contender to Rousey’s crown. Some speculated the reason behind Tate’s omission being that Holm Vs Rousey is more of a money feud while others speculated that Dana White thought that if Tate lost again to Rousey, that would signal the end of Tate’s career.

Well, call it fortune for Holm or misfortune for Tate, we just witnessed history.

#2 Joined UFC in 2014

Holly Holm proved her dtracters wrong at UFC 193

Holm signed a deal of five fights with UFC in 2014 and was supposed to debut at UFC 181, but withdrew due to an undisclosed injury. She debuted finally at UFC 184 and won the bout by split decision.

But Holm just won the biggest fight of career at UFC 193. She is the 2nd undisputed Bantamweight Champion of the World. Her middle name is ‘The Preacher’s daughter’ and from the beginning of her career, she took the time to build up her confidence and fighting skills.

Patience has always prevailed.

That patience reigned supreme as she is now one of the top trends of the world.

#3 Retired from boxing in 2013

The start of the Holm era?

As she was moving ahead in her MMA career, Holm made the decision to retire from boxing in 2013.

This decision was taken keeping in mind her MMA career – which was on a steady rise. She decided to focus full time on MMA and fought her last professional boxing match on May 11. 2013, where she faced Mary McGee.

She defeated McGee following a unanimous decision and made her way to find success in the MMA world. She was signed with Bellator MMA then and the rest has panned out to be an historic MMA stint.

#4 MMA happens in 2011

So, for someone who has dabbled with a lot of arenas in sports, it was only time that Holm moved on to much bigger and lucrative platforms.

Her boxing career transitioned her to the world of Mixed Martial Arts. This happened in 2011 and it was also a time when she had absolutely no Brazilian Jiu- Jitsu experience. She depended heavily on what was her forte. She defeated her first opponent by some devastating kicks. An exhibit of which we saw at UFC 193.

She then went to Bellator MMA and later Legacy Fighting Championship, and stand undefeated with a 10-0 record.

A true legend indeed

Anyone who’s researched about Holm going into her career’s most hyped match is the fact that she can land quite a hard punch.

She dabbled with diving, swimming, gymnastics and soccer. She then moved on to aerobics which propelled her into having a kickboxing career. Later on, she transitioned to a boxing career. There she held many welterweight titles which led many to regard her as one of the greatest welterweight champions ever.

She has defended he her boxing titles a whopping 18 times in three different weight classes and has been showered with countless accolades over the course of her illustrious career.

It’s no shocker that the way Holm won was through a formidable knockout. She has now attained legendary status in the world of combat sports as she is the first boxer to hold both Boxing and UFC titles.

What a legendary feat indeed!
