Alabama vs Liberty Key Stats

Alabama is projected to have Brandon Miller, Mark Sears, and Charles Bediako as their best players this season. During Monday's win, senior forward Miller led all starters in scoring at 14 and all players in rebounding with 13. Miller was one of four Crimson Tide starters that grabbed double-digit boards, and as a team, Alabama recorded a whopping 67 rebounds to Longwood's 38. Alabama struggled from the field, though, especially from deep, where they went 3-for-28. The hosts went 19-14 last season, including a 10-5 record in non-conference matchups, so we'll see if they can take advantage of Liberty, who play in a weaker Atlantic Sun Conference.

Liberty is coming off a 66-point win on Monday, allowing their starters to all see under 18 minutes of action. As a team, the Flames shot 53.7% from the field and forced 26 turnovers from the opposition. They'll travel to face Alabama now, who won't be nearly as sloppy with the ball. Liberty, on offense, features guard Darius McGhee, who averaged 24.6 points per contest last season, and he chipped in with 17 in the blowout win. Outside of McGhee, the Flames didn't have any players average ten or more points, which could be a concern against Alabama's defense, which was very strong in the opener. The Flames had a solid 2021-22 season, going 22-11, but they fell in their Conference tournament semifinals, missing the NCAA tournament. This year, they'll need to prove themselves in games like this, as last year they were a pedestrian 10-7 in non-conference games.

Alabama vs Liberty Betting Prediction

Both teams started their campaigns on a positive note, but Liberty's lack of a balanced scoring attack might make life difficult for them on the road. Alabama's defense was excellent on Monday, so look for them to buckle down once again on three days of rest. Back the home side here to win and cover tonight against the visiting Flames.

Prediction: Alabama -9 (-115)
