What are NCAA Basketball Odds?

In basketball line betting, the sportsbook hinders the game by attempting to equalize both teams by creating a margin. The margin is what is known as the line. Most basketball lines give you odds that are close to 1.90 as the margin is between 1.90 and 2.00, which are the house margins.

How to read NCAA Basketball Odds?

To bet on basketball, you must learn how to read basketball odds. Reading the NCAA basketball odds requires you to understand the +/- points system. If the number on the odds is (+), then you will need to add those points to the end score to determine the winner of the bet. For example, if an NCAAB line is +5 for Team A and -5 for Team B and the end score is 99-100 in favor of Team B, you will win the bet if you bet on Team A. This is because Team A has a +5-point head start.

When placing your wager, you must remember that the team which is the favorite must cover the spread, and the underdog must lose by no less than the spread. In case there is a draw, basketball lines result in a refund. It is vital to note that odds can change based on injuries and rumors spread when game time is nearing. However, the line you bet on will not change in your betting slip.

NCAA Basketball Moneyline Odds

These odds are a prediction of which team will win the college basketball game. College Basketball moneylines usually range from -110 to -1200. The -110 is considered a small favorite, while the -1200 is considered a massive favorite. For instance, if Team A is +165, it is the favorite, and if Team B is -200, it is the underdog. Therefore, a $100 bet on team B would earn you a $50 profit if they win the game. However, a $100 bet on team A will earn you a profit of $165.

NCAA Basketball Over/Under Odds

With over/under bets, all you need to do is estimate how many total points will be scored in a college basketball game. The sportsbook always releases a total points line on each game. If you expect team A and team B to combine for 151 points, you can bet on the over.

NCAA Basketball Against the Spread Odds

Betting sites usually evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the teams to determine which team is stronger and assign a points handicap to that team. This causes a point spread, and it allows the sports to equalize the playing field for both teams. Therefore, in this example, if you bet on Team A (+4.5), they will need to emerge as winners or lose by no more than 4 points for the bet to cash. However, if you bet on Team B at -4.5, they will need to win the game by five or extra for the bet to cash.

NCAA Basketball Playoff Odds

NCAA playoff odds estimate the likelihood for each team to make playoffs and win the title, and they are a measure of team strength.

NCAA Basketball Prop Bet Odds

NCAAB prop bets focus on a proposition of whether something may happen during the fame, and these bets are not related to the final result. Prop bets come in the form of game props and player props. Player props focus on the performance stats of individual performance, while game props include betting on whether the game will go into overtime.

NCAA Basketball Bowl Games Odds

NCAAB bowl games allow you to pick a winner straight up, regardless of the point spread. For instance, if out of all 43 college bowl games this season, you are confident that team A will defeat team B in the College Basketball Playoffs, then your 43-point pick will be team A.

NCAA Basketball Divisional Odds

If you are betting on Division odds, all you will need to do is place wagers on the top team in each division or the team you believe will be the top team at the end of the season. Divisional odds are easier to predict than other futures options because the divisions are small.

NCAA Basketball Championship Odds

Championship odds indicate what it would pay if one of the teams would win six straight games in the NCAA Tournament and win the national championship. Unlike a Moneyline bet, where there is a clear favorite indicated by the (–) sign, the team with the lowest odds is the least favorite.
