Coppin State vs Georgetown Key Stats

Coppin State had a very difficult season in 2021–22. The Eagles' final record was merely 9-22 overall and 6-8 in MEAC competition. Due to the outcome, the squad was only one spot above the bottom of the standings (ahead of only winless Delaware State).

In their season-opening game on Monday against Charlotte, the Eagles trailed 45-32 at the break and eventually fell 82-59. With 24 points, three assists, and three rebounds, Sam Sessoms led the squad in scoring. Nendah Tarke and Justin Winston each contributed eight points.

The Hoyas, on the other hand, significantly regressed from their previous season last year, finishing at just 6-25 and going 0-19 in Big East contests. With the performance, Georgetown was comfortably in last place in the standings, six wins behind DePaul and Butler.

With a record of 6-5 overall, Georgetown didn't perform horribly in non-conference play the previous year. On December 15, the Hoyas' last victory, the squad lost the rest of the season. The year was thankfully over with a defeat to Seton Hall in the first round.

Coppin State vs Georgetown Best Picks and Prediction

I will give Coppin State a shot at this. The Eagles struggled in their opening match on Monday, scoring just 27 points in the second half (compared to Charlotte's 37). Nevertheless, several new players entered the game during the mop-up period, thus the secondary production may aid the team in covering this time.

With regard to Georgetown, they only kept four players from the team from the previous season, but perhaps that's not such a bad thing after all.

However, the Hoyas still have Ryan Mutombo and Dante Harris from a season ago (11.9 PPG last year). 2022–23 would not be that bad for Georgetown if the couple could contribute well and help mentor the newcomers.

Pick: Eagles +17.5 (-110)
