Chicago Bears (3-4), (2-4-1) ATS, (1-3) AWAY, (1-2-1) ATS @ Dallas Cowboys (5-2), (5-2) ATS, (3-1) HOME, (3-1) ATS CHI+10 ½

LW, on MNF CHI stuck to a game plan that probably didn’t surprise NE. But NE didn’t respond and CHI ran the ball all night. CHI ran for 243yds and 2tds on 45 touches. CHI wasn’t threatened all night except for about a five minute span in the 2nd qtr when NE scored 2tds to make the score, NE 14-10. After that CHI stuck to their game plan and scored 23 straight points to win @NE, 33-14.

I like NE@HOME -7 ½ because I said that NE needed to stop CHI in the run game and put it all on QB Justin Field’s shoulder. Well, NE didn’t do that and Fields ran 82yds and 1td & threw 13/21, 179 yds, 1td, 1INT. He had a very good game and he also spread the ball around to seven different receivers.

On 3rd down, CHI was 11-18. NE Couldn’t make a stop and CHI was in control all game. LW, DAL @HOME was up 10-6 on DET in the 4th qtr. This game could have easily gone DET’s way. But DET turned the ball over on 4 straight possessions giving DAL an easy opportunity to score 2tds.

This put the score at DAL 24-6 and the game was out of reach for DET. DET was actually ahead in this game 6-3 in the 3rd qtr but 5 turnovers in a game, will not get you a win. It was DAL QB Dak Prescott’s 1st game back from injury and DAL kept it simple in the game plan. He was 19/25 for 207yds, 1td, 0turnovers. The run game for DAL helped him out, rushing for a combined 139yds and 2tds.

L8 CHI vs DAL, 4-4 SUATS. DAL 7-8 ATS since 2007, wk before their bye. DAL 7-11 ATS in 2nd of BB HGs. DAL 36-26 ATS @HOME in OCT. DAL 45-35 ATS as a FAV in OCT. DAL 18-4 ATS @HOME vs ,500 opp off SU DOG win. DAL 3-12 ATS vs opp off BB SUATS wins (last as a DOG). DAL 12-11 ATS vs opp off BB SUATS wins. CHI 9-6-2 ATS in 2nd of BB RGs. CHI 36-27-2 ATS as a DOG in OCT. CHI 32-28-2 ATS AWAY in OCT. CHI 9-6 ATS AWAY off SU DOG win. CHI 5-15 ATS vs NFC EAST.

Can Justin fields continue to play better? DAL has a better DEF than NE and playing @DAL is always hostile as the fan base gets totally into it. DAL #6 TOT DEF w/#4 PASS DEF & #20 RUSH DEF. But, DAL can be run on, you just have to be careful. They have a secondary that is aggressive and they make tackles. CHI #1 RUSH OFF.

CHI has very capable RBs in David Montgomery & Khalil Herbert and they can take a lot of the pressure off of Fields so he can sprinkle in some passes. The game plan for CHI is simple. Also, CHI needs to create turnovers and put pressure on Prescott. If he can sit in the pocket with no pressure, his receivers will find a way to get open. On the flip side, Fields needs to take what the DAL DEF gives you and exploit it. Newly acquired DT Johnathan Hankins was brought to DAL to help with DEF vs the run. Let’s see how he does. Take the points here as DAL should win but by seven or less.

THE PICK: CHI+10 ½

Sunday October 30th, 2022 1:00pm

NE Patriots (3-4), (4-3) ATS, (2-2) AWAY, (3-1) ATS @ NY Jets (5-2), (5-2) ATS, (1-2) HOME, (1-2) ATS NYJ+2

LW, on MNF CHI+7 ½ @NE, NE was competitive for about 5minutes in the 2nd qtr. CHI is a run heavy team that sprinkles in passes. Well, if I know that, then NE HC Bill Belichick certainly knew that. But NE didn’t play like they knew that because CHI rushed for a combined 243yds and 2tds on 45 touches. No matter what, NE couldn’t stop CHI’s run game and that was the difference here. NE was leading 14-10 on an up-lift by NE QB Bailey Zappe but CHI answered with 23 straight points and won 33-14. NE QB Mac Jones started the game but didn’t look too good and QB Bailey Zappe came in and completed 2td drives.

But that was the best that NE could muster on OFF. As the DEF for NE put the NE OFF in a catchup mode that they couldn’t overtake. NE looked completely unprepared on DEF and it showed. LW, NYJ were a DOG +1- +3 @DEN depending on where you looked. I liked NYJ in this game because of the revenge factor from last season. To make a long story short, DEN beat NYJ in DEN 26-0 in wk 4 last season. Right now, the NYJ are playing well and DEN is not. I knew that it would be a low scoring, tight game and it was. NYJ managed to win the game 16-9. NYJ didn’t turn the ball over and combined to rush for 155yds and 1td. However, NYJ RB Breece Hall suffered a torn ACL and is done for the season. JAGS RB James Robinson was acquired on Monday to fill the void. He is a proven RB that was having a nice start to 2022 but was replaced in the JAGS starting lineup by Travis Etienne. Hopefully Robinson can pick up where he left off and take some pressure off of NYJ QB Zach Wilson.

L15 NYJ(H) vs NE, NYJ 4-11 SU but 8-7 ATS. L20 NE vs NYJ, NYJ 11-9 ATS. L23 NYJ vs NE, ROAD 11-12 ATS. L48 NE vs NYJ, ROAD 28-19-1 ATS. L22 NYJ(H) vs NE, NYJ 8-14 ATS. NYJ vs NE in OCT, NE 14-6 ATS. NYJ vs NE if DOG <7pts, L10 5-5 ATS. L12 NE vs NYJ, NE 12-0 SU & 8-4 ATS. NYJ 21-22-1 ATS L34 as a HOME DOG. NYJ 5-14 ATS in 1st of BB HGs. NYJ 33-29 ATS @HOME in OCT. NYJ 38-38 ATS as a DOG in OCT. NYJ 31-17 ATS vs AFC EAST in OCT. NYJ 9-6 ATS before BUFF. NYJ 3-11 ATS w/revenge off SU DOG win vs opp off SU loss. NE 25-20-2 ATS L47 as a ROAD FAV. NE 39-22-1 ATS AWAY in OCT. NE 51-37-2 ATS as a FAV in OCT. NE 23-21 ATS vs AFC EAST in OCT. NE 13-5 ATS @NYJ in OCT. NE 21-11-1 ATS off SU FAV loss vs >500 opp. NE 15-9-1 ATS after allowing 28>pts. NE 20-14 ATS as a ROAD FAV after an SU loss. NE 31-15-2 ATS after an SU loss. NE 11-1 ATS off SU loss vs opp off BB SU wins. NE 2-6 ATS as a FAV <6pts vs opp w/revenge. NE 2-9 ATS AWAY vs .500>opp w/revenge.

The DEF for NYJ played well last week @DEN. But DEN’s OFF is a mess and it wasn’t really a test for the NYJ DEF. However, they didn’t let that fact get away from them. This week will be a very big test for the NYJ DEF. These two teams know each other well. Last week’s loss by NE @HOME was a very big surprise by everyone. Belichick was probably saying that NE didn’t do anything right, and they didn’t. He is one of those coaches that quickly corrects mistakes during the week as he prepares for the next game. What a way to bounce back after a big loss than against his favorite team, the New York Jets? Also, Belichick is tied with CHI HC George Halas for 2nd in all-times win with 324. Wouldn’t it be nice to move into 2nd place with a win vs NYJ? This game will come down to a td because NE is very good at bouncing back after a blowout. Lay the points here.

THE PICK: NE-2

Sunday October 30th, 2022 4:00pm

SF 49ers (3-4), (3-4) ATS, (1-3) AWAY, (1-3) ATS @ LA Rams (3-3), (2-4) ATS, (2-2) HOME, (1-3) ATS LAR+2

LW, SF was @HOME vs KC. Everyone thought with the addition of RB Christian McCaffrey that SF would take care of business. Also, SF QB Jimmy Garoppolo was probably relieved, knowing that the game wouldn’t be all on his shoulders. Well why didn’t the line move from KC-3? I knew that KC was on a bounceback and McCaffrey would get limited touches as he was playing on a abbreviated playbook. SF jumped out to a 10-0 lead and it looked like there was going to be a rout. KC didn’t worry and they went to work. SF got a fg to make it 13-7 but KC answered back with a td to make it KC 14-13. To make long story short, KC took over in the 2nd half and won 44-23. SF had no answers for the KC OFF even though three starters on DEF came back from injury. SF played catchup for most of the game and KC let them move up and down the field except getting into the endzone. Before their bye, LAR was @HOME -10 ½ vs CAR. The CAR HC had just been fired and the CAR team was a mess. LAR barely covered the spread because RB Christian McCaffrey caught a pass and took it deep into LAR territory. CAR QB Jacob Eason who came in for PJ Walker, threw a pass that was deflected and intercepted by LAR and the threat was over. LAR cam very close to just beating CAR by seven points. LAR QB Matthew Stafford spread the ball around nicely to 8 different receivers and was barely touched by CAR all afternoon. But the running game for LAR was masked by a lot of end arounds and generated 111yds on 29 touches.

L15 LAR(H) vs SF, LAR 4-11 SU & 6-9 ATS. L31 SF vs LAR, SF 22-8-1 SU & 19-12 ATS. L21 SF vs LAR, SF 14-7 ATS. L7 SF vs LAR, SF 7-0 SU & 6-1 ATS. L11 SF vs LAR, DOG 7-4 ATS. LAR 5-9-1 ATS L15 as a HOME DOG. LAR 11-3-1 ATS since 2007 after their bye. LAR 33-39 ATS as a DOG in OCT. LAR 22-24 ATS vs NFC WEST in OCT. LAR 32-28 ATS @HOME in OCT. LAR 7-3 ATS w/rest off SU win. LAR 5-3 ATS w/rest off ATS win. LAR 6-3 ATS L9 w/div revenge. LAR 10-3 ATS w/rest vs <666 opp. LAR 2-19-1 ATS vs >400 opp off BB SU losses. SF 1-3 ATS as a ROAD FAV in 2022. SF 9-9 ATS L18 as a ROAD FAV. SF 7-8 ATS since 2007 before their bye. SF 26-42 ATS AWAY in OCT. SF 25-20 ATS vs NFC WEST in OCT. SF 44-32 ATS as a FAV in OCT. SF 12-12 ATS L24 AWAY after allowing 28>pts. SF 7-15 ATS after allowing 28>pts vs non-div opp. SF 1-11 ATS as a FAV off DD SU loss. SF 6-0 ATS after non-conf HG.

The Rams are an average team at best and SF is on a serious bounceback. These two teams know each other very well and in wk 4 on MNF SF embarrassed LAR @SF, 24-9. LAR might be feeling a revenge factor here but they don’t match up well vs SF. Plus, their O-LINE has not gotten any better over their bye. SF is desperate for a win here to get back to .500 after the blowout loss. The LAR wins have not been impressive. ATL, @ARZ & CAR will not get you to the playoffs. Losses to BUFF, @SF & DAL will get you nothing but doubters. SF will unleash RB Christian McCaffrey and you will see him on full display. He will take a lot of pressure off of Jimmy G and SF will again win vs LAR. As for LAR, they don’t have a run game. Before their bye, LAR’s leading rusher vs CAR was RB Darrell Henderson who rushed 12x for 43yds. LAR did a lot of end arounds to try to get CAR off guard. They may try that here too but it will not work vs SF. Take SF here in a bounceback.

THE PICK: SF-2

Sunday October 30th, 2022 8:20pm

GB Packers (3-4), (2-5) ATS, (1-2) AWAY, (1-2) ATS @ Buffalo Bills (5-1), (4-1-1) ATS, (2-0) HOME, (2-0) ATS GB+10 ½

LW, GB was @WASH. GB was the FAV @-5 ½ . I liked WASH with the points and to possibly win outright because no matter how WASH is doing, they always seem to give GB a tough game. GB was actually up 14-3 in this game after WASH QB Taylor Heinicke threw a PICK6. But after that it was mostly WASH. GB was frustrated by a WASH DEF that made stops when they needed it most and WASH took the lead 23-14 late in the 4th qtr. GB came back with a td but WASH won 23-21. GB’s O-LINE wasn’t much help as GB RBs Aaron Jones & AJ Dillon rushed 12x for 38yds. Other players on GB didn’t do their jobs and helped the WASH cause. GB went 0-6 on 3rd down. BUFF is coming off a bye. Before their bye, BUFF was @KC. BUFF was the ROAD FAV @-3 and I liked them because of the revenge factor. Look up last season’s playoff game for reference here. This was a tight game and BUFF QB Josh Allen played his Superman self and let BUFF to a victory. He threw a td late in the game and then the BUFF DEF intercepted a pass from KC QB Pat Mahomes the ensuing possession for KC to end the game. The game was a seesaw battle but the BUFF DEF made stops when they needed to. The final score was BUFF 24-20.

L4 BUFF vs GB, 2-2 SUATS but, HOME team is 4-0 SUATS. GB 7-11 ATS in 2nd of BB RGs. GB 22-20 ATS as a DOG in OCT. GB 35-27-1 ATS AWAY in OCT. GB 12-5 ATS on SNF off an SU loss. GB 15-12 ATS AWAY on SNF. GB 10-9 ATS as a DOG on SNF. GB 19-23-1 ATS vs AFC. GB 14-8 ATS as a DOG >2pts vs 666>opp. GB 11-3 ATS as a non-conf DOG 2>pts. GB 14-2-1 ATS vs opp w/rest off SU win. BUFF 6-2 ATS on SNF. BUFF 5-3 ATS as a FAV on SNF. BUFF 8-0 ATS on SNF vs opp off SU loss. BUFF 9-5-1 ATS since 2007 after their bye. BUFF 30-30-1 ATS @HOME in OCT. BUFF 27-36-2 ATS as a FAV in OCT. BUFF 4-7 ATS L11 before NYJ.

GB is in serious bounceback mode but I don’t see it happening this week. BUFF is just too tough. GB has a terrible O-LINE and they have injuries to key receivers which means Rodgers is limited. He came out and said a lot of things about the perception of the team for this game but GB doesn’t have the weapons to battle a team like BUFF. GB #18 RUSH OFF vs BUFF #1 RUSH DEF. This means that Rodgers will have to do it alone and they don’t have the players to do it. The BUFF crowd will be noisy and will not let Rodgers get his plays off. BUFF #1 TOT OFF vs GB #8 TOT DEF w/#1 PASS DEF & #27 RUSH DEF. This is another big game for BUFF and their DEF will create some turnovers. Also, the running game for BUFF will get a lot of work because GB can’t stop it either. Lay the points here.

THE PICK: BUFF-10 ½

Monday October 31st, 2022 8:15pm

Cincinnati Bengals (4-3), (5-2) ATS, (2-2) AWAY, (3-1) ATS @ Cleveland Browns (2-5), (4-3) ATS, (1-3) HOME, (2-2) ATS CLEV+3

LW, CINNCY @HOME vs ATL+5 ½. I made the mistake of thinking that ATL would stay competitive in this one. CINNCY made mince meat against an ATL team that doesn’t pass much and relies heavily on the run. Plus, the ATL secondary has its shortcomings. Well CINNCY QB Joe Burrow is not afraid to pass and pass is what he did. He shredded the ATL secondary throwing 34/42 481yds, 3tds & 0turnovers. He was able to spread the ball around to 7 different receivers. The run game for CINNCY was modest at 21 rushes for 78 yds and 2tds. Twenty of those yds were by Burrow himself. The score was CINNCY 28-7 in the 2nd qtr and they never looked back, winning 35-17. LW, CLEVE was +6 ½ @BALT. I liked CLEV because no matter what, they always give BALT a tough time. But, CLEV QB Jacoby Brissett should be wearing the other team’s jersey. He seems to either fumble the ball away or throws an INT that hands the game over to the other team. Brissett fumbled during the game when the score was BALT 13-10. His fumble was eventually turned into a td by BALT to give them a 20-10 lead. Plus, he doesn’t know how to manage a game. He took a sack late in the game that put CLEV out of FG range and they missed a 60 yard fg instead of an easier, closer fg. Despite his play, CLEV lost 23-20 but, covered.

L15 CLEV(H) vs CINNCY, CLEV 8-7 SU but 5-8-2 ATS. L21 CLEv vs CINNCY, CINNCY 11-6-4 ATS. L30 CLEV vs CINNCY, DOG 17-9-4 ATS. L30 CLEV vs CINNCY, CINNCY 15-11-4 ATS. L17 CLEV vs CINNCY, CINNCY 11-3-3 ATS. CLEV 5-10 ATS since 2007 wk before their bye. CLEV 11-19 ATS L30 as a HOME DOG. CLEV 1-3 ATS as a HOME DOG on MNF. CLEV 25-19-1 ATS @HOME in OCT. CLEV 29-38-1 ATS as a DOG in OCT. CLEV 13-12-1 ATS vs AFC NORTH in OCT. CLEV 2-10 ATS L12 after BALT. CLEV 1-9 ATS off SU DIV loss vs >500 opp. CLEV 3-13-2 ATS off SU DIV loss. CINNCY 10-4 ATS L14 as a ROAD FAV. CINNCY 27-40 ATS AWAY in OCT. CINNCY 23-30-1 ATS as a FAV in OCT. CINNCY 17-32-1 ATS vs AFC NORTH in OCT. CINNCY 0-1 ATS as a ROAD FAV on MNF. CINNCY 8-3 ATS as a conf ROAD FAV. CINNCY 13-2 ATS AWAY vs opp off BB SU losses. CINNCY 4-6-1 ATS L11 off BB SU wins.

In four of five CLEV losses the losses have been by 1pt, 3pts, 2pts & 3pts. The other game was vs NE and they were blown out by 23pts. They were in all these games but Brissett has either a lost fumble or INT that decided the game against CLEV. But you can’t really put it ALL on him because the DEF for CLEV is pretty bad too. There are some guys on the CLEV DEF making some really nice money and haven’t been holding their weight. CLEV #24 RUSH DEF. BALT rushed for 160 yds and 2tds. Burrow is the kind of QB that takes what the DEF gives him. He watches film, he waits it out. He picks his spots. He doesn’t try to force anything. It’s obvious when the ball is thrown. He will eat this DEF up. CINNCY DEF is starting to really come together too. CINNCY #11 TOT DEF w/#9 PASS DEF. CLEV will go with run but that won’t be there either. Lay the points here as CINNCY rolls.
