Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets vs. Northern Illinois Huskies Key Stats

Both schools have played one Division I opponent each, which makes it difficult to assess their performances thus far. For Georgia Tech they have three players that have scored 20 or more points through the opening two contests. Big man Rodney Howard is a solid all-around force down low for the Yellow Jackets, and so far, he's tallied 15 total points, 16 rebounds, six assists, and three steals. When it comes to scoring, forwards Dallan Coleman and Miles Kelly will be relied on, in addition to the starting backcourt of Kyle Sturdivant and Lance Terry. Georgia Tech will look to spread the scoring around, and this balance can be key as the season rolls on.

Northern Illinois has played just one D1 school so far, Northwestern, and in that game, they lost by 17 on the road. The fact that the Huskies lost to Illinois Springfield, a Division II school, to open the season doesn't bode well for this road matchup either. So far, we've seen Keshawn Williams, who is now a junior, build off a breakout sophomore campaign. Williams led the team in scoring last year at 16.3, and he's up at 18.7 so far through three contests. David Coit's first three career college games have been productive, as the 5'11" guard opened the season with a 31-point performance, followed by two decent showings. Look for these two, along with sophomore Zariq Nutter, to provide the bulk of the scoring tonight.

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets vs. Northern Illinois Huskies Betting Prediction

Georgia Tech are pretty big favorites tonight, and Northern Illinois looked awful offensively against Northwestern, where the Huskies were 17.5-point underdogs. Even though NIU covered, the fact that they were held to just 46 points shows that they haven't proven to put up buckets against actual competition. Back the Yellow Jackets here, as their well-balanced roster should be enough to cover the spread tonight.

Prediction: Georgia Tech -13 (-110)
