On the ensuing drive, former first-round pick Trevor Lawrence led the Jags on a 75-yard touchdown drive that ended on a miraculous shin-dragging grab by Marvin Jones. Coach Doug Peterson and crew opted for the win, going for a two-point conversion down one with 18 seconds left in the fourth.

Lawrence proceeded to connect with Zay Jones for the game-winning completion. After the spectacular win, the Jaguars are 1-183 all-time when trailing by seven or more points in the final minute of regulation.

Meanwhile, Detroit lost a Thanksgiving Day game to the Buffalo Bills in a way that only they could lose. The Lions gave the juggernaut Bills everything they could handle, going toe-to-toe with Josh Allen and Co. for nearly 60 minutes.

They tied the game at 25 after Michael Badgley's 51-yard field goal with 27 seconds remaining. However, they then allowed Buffalo to go 48 yards in under 15 seconds to kick the game-winner.

The silver lining for Detroit was their star wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown, who played out of his mind, going for 122 yards and a score on nine catches.

Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Detroit Lions Key Stats

At 4-7 and with QB Trevor Lawrence showing flashes of excellence, Jacksonville is in a much better place than it was this time last year. Former disgraced coach Urban Meyer ran the franchise into the ground, only for Super Bowl champ Doug Peterson to pick up the pieces this season.

Lawrence, the first pick in the 2021 NFL draft, has 16 passing touchdowns and six picks on the year. His touchdown percentage and QBR have nearly doubled since last season, with the Jags now in the top 15 in the NFL in passing yards, touchdowns, and net yards per attempt.

The running back room has also improved over just one year. Travis Etienne, another first-round pick and Lawrence's college teammate, has run for 728 yards and four scores on 133 attempts. However, he is questionable for Sunday with a foot injury, and if he misses out, pass-catching back JaMycal Hasty will fill the void.

Like the offense, the defense has improved under the new regime. They are 14th in the NFL at 21.1 points per game allowed. The Jags have picked off opposing QBs nine times already this season.

Detroit, meanwhile, is still trying to find its way under second-year coach Dan Campbell. Although the defense has somehow taken a step back, the offense has morphed into a powerhouse with Jared Goff behind center.

The Lions' balanced offensive attack has them eighth in points and yards gained this season. WR Amon-Ra St. Brown should blow by 1,100 yards receiving, while RB Jamaal Williams leads the NFL in rushing TDs with 13. Former second-round pick D'Andre Swift is yet to get going, but still averages 5.8 yards per pop.

There isn't much to say about the Lions' defense except that it's atrocious. Detroit is are dead last in the NFL in yards and points allowed. Outside of holding the stumbling Green Bay Packers to nine points in Week 9, they have surrendered north of 30 points per game.

Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Detroit Lions Betting Prediction

It's always tough to guess which team will show up when both have been inconsistent this year.

One thing that rings true for both the Jags and the Lions is that the offense can put up points in bunches. Meanwhile, the two defenses are among the worst in the NFL this year.

With the game being played in the dome in Detroit, temperature conditions should be ideal for a high-scoring affair, especially for the Jaguars.

Prediction: Over 51 (-110)
