Can Northwestern slow down the Ohio State Buckeyes?
Can Northwestern slow down the Ohio State Buckeyes?

The #2 team in the Nation, the Ohio State Buckeyes, head to Evanston, Indiana, to take on the Northwestern Wildcats. This game should be a relative tune-up for the Buckeyes following Ohio State's victory over Penn State last week.

The Buckeyes have three relatively easy games coming up against Northwestern, Indiana, and Maryland before the regular season finale that will have all of College Football buzzing--Ohio State vs. Michigan.

Northwestern does not have the offensive firepower to match Ohio State in this one, but can they keep it close enough to make the betting public nervous?

The betting odds and predictions are below:

TEAMSLINETOTAL
Ohio State Buckeyes-38 (-110)O 57.5 (-110)
Northwestern Wildcats+38 (-110)U 57.5 (-110)

Any chance we get to talk Ohio State football begins with QB C.J. Stroud. Stroud has been outstanding again this season with a 29:4 TD-to-interception ratio. Stroud rarely throws an interception and keeps the Buckeyes' offensive machine on track.

The Buckeyes can bully the opposition with a tremendous 1-2 punch at the running back position. TreVeyon Henderson is as explosive an RB in college football and can score from anywhere on the field.

Miyan Williams is the hammer in the backfield, the more physical runner of the two, who punishes would-be defenders. Don't let Williams' physicality fool you. Williams is averaging more yards per carry than Henderson.

Emeka Egbuka and Marvin Harrison Jr. have stepped up in the absence of Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who just hasn't been himself all season following the injury. If the Buckeyes can get a fully healthy Smith-Njigba back, their offense will be virtually impossible to stop.

Following an opener where they upset Nebraska, Northwestern has now lost seven straight. The Wildcats are paced by QB Ryan Hilinski and RB Evan Hull.

Ohio State Buckeyes vs. Northwestern Wildcats Best Pick:

It is going to be a rough day for the Northwestern Wildcats. The Wildcats have not won a game in two months. The Wildcats cannot stack up against the Ohio State Buckeyes. The Ohio State passing game should have to do little in this one. If you can find a reasonable prop bet on the Buckeyes' backfield, I would take the Over.

Ohio State backfield: Over

Ohio State Buckeyes vs. Northwestern Wildcats Final Prediction

I would not be surprised if the Buckeyes didn't have their 2nd-string in the game by the early 2nd half. Ohio State should have its way with Northwestern in this one.
