As the Commonwealth Games head into its final stages, it is only fair to say that Indian athletes have performed superbly so far. Heading into Day 8, India will be looking to continue a good medal run in the competition so far.

Om Mitharwal and Shreyasi Singh brought medals for India on the 7th day of the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.

On Day 7, there was a lot of progress in the Boxing event. Manish Kaushik, Vikas Krishan, and Gaurav Solanki went through to the Semifinals. The three qualifications mean that all Indian Male boxers have made it through to the Semifinals of their respective weight categories.

Legendary Mary Kom, did one better and progressed to the Finals in the 45-48 Kg weight category. Sarita Devi and Pinki could not repeat the same feat, however, and were knocked out in the quarterfinals.

Day 7, brought individual Badminton and Table Tennis events. Sindhu, Saina Nehwal, and Srikanth were all in action in their singles matches.

Indian Men's Hockey team, staged a great comeback from 3-2 down to win 4-3 in the final minutes of the match, confirming their spot in the semifinals.

As Day 8 of the games begins, Indian athletes will compete with the best. In Badminton, Saina, Sindhu, and Srikanth, amongst others are back in action. They play various opponents in their knockout stage matches.

In Table Tennis, India is represented in fourteen events through Day 8. If the athletes do indeed manage to progress they will find themselves in the next round on the same day.

Wrestling is the main event on showcase on Day 8, as Indian wrestlers look to match the exploits of their fellow sportsmen by winning medals.

Indian Hockey Women's Team faces Australia, in the semifinal match, of Women's Hockey. A win here would guarantee a medal.

Athletics, Lawn Bowls, Shooting, and Squash are the other events on Day 8.
