As Manchester United and Chelsea get ready for the face-off in the Community Shield 2010-11, fans are confused what to make of this match! Manchester United seem to be taking this one just like any other pre-season opener while Chelsea will always go for the silverware.
Wayne Rooney will sit out of the Community Shield match against rivals Chelsea
Manchester United Manager Sir Alex Ferguson has already decided (seemingly) that Wayne Rooney will sit out for this one. For Chelsea, Ancelotti has already announced his started XI and Didier Drogba will be on the bench.
Manchester United will pin their hopes on their new star Javier Hernandez who has had a promising start to his career at Manchester United. This predator from Mexico will be eyeing a starting position for the league season and a good performance in the Community Shield will help his case.
Carlo Ancelotti has continuously defended his “old” Chelsea side and will be keen on delivering results with this side. Ancelotti has also claimed that this Chelsea side is capable of claiming a treble! While this claim cannot be termed outrageous considering they have a well settled side with a well settled manager, its a fact that this feat wont be that easy to attain for Chelsea.
The Community Shield is also associated with its fair share of superstitions and jinx. It is said that the winner of Community Shield does not go on to win the League, however Chelsea has falsified this before and would love to do it again. Same goes for rivals Manchester United.

Community Shield
Here is the Chelsea starting XI
Starting XI: Henrique Hilario, Paulo Ferreira, Branislav Ivanovic, John Terry,Ashley Cole, Michael Essien, John Mikel Obi, Frank Lampard, Salomon Kalou, Nicolas Anelka, Florent Malouda.
Chelsea are a well settled side with lots of experience in mid-field. Chelsea will have their ever so dependable defenders in Ashley Cole and John Terry. Anelka will play a key role in the strike department for Chelsea after a horrible world cup campaign.
Manchester United have kept mum on the starting XI but Wayne Rooney is likely to sit out making way for Hernandez and others after a hectic world cup campaign.
