Nicklas Bendtner demands free pizza, causes commotion

The superhumanly confident striker has been caught on camera, possibly drunk after a nightout in his native Copenhagen, arguing at a pizzeria after failing to come up with enough cash to pay for the pizza.

Currently on loan at Sunderland, Bendtner has been out of action and back in his homeland with a groin injury. Following a drunken night out with actress Julie Zangenberg, the duo entered into Pizza Huset with a taxi waiting outside and ordered two pizzas. Unable to pay by credit card, the ‘arrogant’ Danish international demanded to be given the pizza for free.

According to Danish paper Ekstrabladet, the 23 year old then indulged in verbal conflict with the staff. A member of the staff told the paper:

“He played really stupid. When he could not pay, he demanded to get free pizza and said: ‘Don’t you know who I am? I can buy the whole pizzeria.’

“No, we told him that it did not matter who he was. If he could not pay, there was no pizza.”

The newspaper also quoted a carpenter who witnessed the incident.

“He was f**king arrogant and brought forward, as if he owned it all. All the people just stood and looked at each other and shook their heads over the way he behaved.”

The striker then asked everyone in the queue to pay for his pizza. Finally, two young girls took pity and coughed up enough money (120 DKK: about £14) to pay for the meal. A tipsy Bendtner then boarded the taxi and went away.
