Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar has spoken out on the issue of Salman Khan’s appointment as the Goodwill Ambassador for Rio 2016, stating that regardless of who is appointed as the ambassador, it was his/her responsibility to do the right things with the best intentions.

“Well, I think whoever becomes a brand ambassador, it’s about doing the right things for our country. And as long as somebody is prepared to do that with no other interests, then it's fine,” Tendulkar told News18.

The 50-year-old Bollywood actor was appointed as the Goodwill Ambassador last month and the decision received a lot of criticism from various quarters. The Indian Olympic Association (IOA), however, stuck to their stand and kept him in that position.

Following his appointment, the IOA also roped in Tendulkar, 2008 Beijing Olympics Gold medalist Abhinav Bindra and music composer AR Rahman as Goodwill Ambassadors for Rio 2016.

The 43-year-old recently posted pictures about spending some time with some of the Rio-bound athletes.
