1993: Oldham avoided relegation in one of the greatest escape stories in Premier League history, when they beat Southampton 4-3.

1996: Paris Saint-Germain won their first and only European trophy, beating Rapid Vienna in the Cup Winners’ Cup Final.

1970: Birth of Michael Bevan, Australian batsman, who was renowned as one of the best batsmen in the history of cricket. The only batsman to have retired with an average of 50.
