20 Indians to participate in British Junior Open Squash

CHENNAI: When the New Year comes serious squash players think of the British Junior Open, considered the Wimbledon of squash.

The event is being held between January 2 and 6 at Sheffield. Two Indians particularly have pleasant memories of this – Joshna Chinappa and Dipika Pallikal have both won titles there. But participating in the British Open itself is an experience young up and coming squash players look forward to.

This year, a group of 20 aspirants from India will be travelling to London. All irtually the cream of Indian junior talent will be mingling with some of the best in the world and to that extent this event gives a projection of the stars of the future.

The Indian participants are: Boys: U-19: Velavan Senthilkumar, Ranjit Singh, Sandeep Ramachandran, Siddarth Chaudhary; U-17: Aditya Raghavan, Aryanam Adik, Yash Bhargava; U-15: Tushar Shahani, Veer Chotrani, Yash Fadte, Saksham Chaudhary; U-13: Neel Joshi, Kanhav Nanavati, Shreyas Mehta. Girls: U-19: Harshit Kaur Jawanda; U-17: Akanksha Salunkhe, Sunayna Kuruvilla, Ashita Pranaya Bhengra; U-15: Navmi Sharma; U-13: Ananya Dabke.
