Interview with Aryaman Adik:"In the international and national circuit as well, there is nothing such as an easy opponent"

To reach the number one spot in any sport is no mean feat and to do so at a young age is an even more commendable effort. Aryaman Adik, the 16-year-old squash player from Maharashtra has scaled the top of the rankings in the Under-17 category and ahead of the Junior/Sub Junior National Championships starting on Saturday, The player spoke to Sportskeeda via mail about reaching the top, his role model and more.

Excerpts:

Q1: How does it feel to be ranked number 1 in the Boys U17 category?

A: To be ranked no. 1 in your category in the country is definitely a great feeling, God's been kind to me.

Q2:Is there a player in the international circuit, whom you find to be a tough opponent in your category?

A: Well, in the international and national circuit as well, there is nothing such as an easy opponent. Everybody is really good and at this stage, everybody is tough.

Q3: In your category, which Indian player do you consider your toughest opponent?

A:In my category, I consider every participant and player as an equal competitor who has worked hard. Again, everybody's good and is playing well.

Q4:Whom do you consider your role model?

A:I definitely consider Ramy Ashour as my role model. He's a legend and the way he fights back when he's on the losing side is just astounding. A brilliant person on court and off court, He's always got the eye of the tiger and also the heart of a lion which is so inspirational to us, young players.

Q5:What areas on your game do you think you need to you still need to work on?

A:I have a lot of areas in my game yet to improve on, I just can't point out any one specific part.

Q6: What do you like doing in your free time?

A:In my free time, I enjoy watching movies and listening to some good music and chilling with my family.
