Squash: India defeat Argentina in opening round of WSF Men's World Team Championships

The first day of the WSF World Men’s Team Championship, in Mulhouse France saw 15 matches split over the two venues in three sessions of play.

In the end all the seeded teams won, with the closest to an upset coming in the last match of the day as Argentina seriously troubled 8th seeds India. Robertino Pezzota put the 21/24 seeds ahead with a 99-minute five-game win over Harinderpal Sandhu.

Saurav Ghosal tied the match up with a straight-games win, then India’s fourth string Mahesh Mangaonkar came from a game down to beat Leandro Romiglio, much to the relief of the Indian camp.

“I wasn’t really feeling under pressure, and from the second game on I started to slow the pace down and it worked for me, but it’s a relief to get the team off to a winning start.”admitted Mahesh
