Squash makes debut in National School Games

The Squash Rackets Federation of India (SRFI) is pleased to announce that for the first time Squash will be part of the National School Games held under the auspices of The School Games Federation of India (SGFI).

The 58th National School Games for the academic year 2012-13 will be held at the Indian Squash Academy, Chennai from 21 – 24 Jan 2013. The Government of Tamil Nadu will organize this event.

For this inaugural event (2012-13) the SGFI will conduct the Boys & Girls Under 17 categories. Efforts for the more categories are being made from 2013-14 onwards.

Srivatsan Subramaniam, Secretary General SRFI said “Our efforts to broad base squash and bring them to schools has finally succeeded.”

The squash event will feature a team and individual championship. Each eligible state is entitled to send 1 team of 4 members for the boys & girls under 17 team event of which the top 2 members per state will be eligible to play the individual event in the boys & girls under 17 category.
