World Junior Women's Championships : Anaka Alankamony reaches the top 16 stage

Anaka Alankamony reached the top 16 stage today at the World Junior Women’s Championships in Boston defeating Canadian Alix Younger in straight games. Anaka dominated the match with her aggressive play to win 21 min. Tomorrow, Anaka has the daunting task against top seeded Nour El Tayeb.Aparajitha Balamurukan lost in the round of 32 to 3/4 seed Nour Sherbini from Egypt. Aparajitha played some exciting squash and stayed with Sherbini for many rallies, however the former World Junior Champion was superior winning without dropping a game.

In the earlier round, Aparajitha dropped the second game before defeating Choi Uen Shan of Hong Kong 11-9, 9-11, 11-4, 11-6, while Anaka, also need four games to defeat Olivia Fiechter of USA.

The three other Indian lasses, Lakshya Ragavendran, Saumya Karki and Ankita Sharma ended up on the losing side in round 2.While Lakshya lost to higher ranked Olivia Blatchford of USA, Saumya Karki led 2-0, lost the initiative and went down to Ho Tze-Lok of Hong Kong and Anikita was beaten by Egyptian Mariam Metwally.
