The most recent Olympic gold medalist Li Xiaoxia will be hoping to defend her gold medal this time as well in Rio. The Chinese paddler overcame the much more fancied Ding Ning in the final.
Li Xiaoxia has won the gold medal in each of the table tennis world cup, the table tennis world championships, and the table tennis Olympics. Relying on quick moment and devastating attacking play, Xiaoxia completely outwitted Ding Ning at the crucial moments to secure a historic gold medal.
