The Inglewood High Girl's team and their coach have gone viral after a video of them and their coach dancing to Kendrick Lamar's song "tv off" from his latest album GNX was posted on Instagram on Tuesday. It had a ton of people talking, including those close to Lamar himself.
"tv off" was the source of the "MUSTARD!" meme, as this was when the rapper shouted out the name of one of the track's collaborators, DJ Mustard. The man himself reacted to the viral video on Instagram and said he loved it.
"Alll y'all turntttt i love this," commented DJ Mustard.
Mustard co-produced "Not Like Us" in 2024, along with "tv off." He also helped produce Cardi B's "She Bad" and Travis Scott's "Party Till." Widely regarded as one of the most influential music producers today, Mustard has worked with A-list stars and up-and-coming talent.
It was not just Mustard who reacted to the video, but Inglewood's own D Smoke, who commented that their dance was absolutely fire.
"🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥," commented the rapper.
The video has been viewed over a million times and continues to gain attention, especially as some team members showcased their individual dance moves. However, the standout moment came from one of their coaches, with many in the comments section pointing out that he was "cooking."
Certified Walks originally posted the video to drum up support for the Inglewood Sentinels girls' basketball team and hype up the new season. The school is located in the Los Angeles area and has been looking for donations for its basketball team.
Inglewood High Sentinels struggling early in the season
While they have a big win by going viral and getting noticed by DJ Mustard himself, Inglewood still only has a record of 1-3, with some of their losses being massive blow-outs.
On Nov. 21, they lost to St. Mary's Academy by 48 points, with the final score of 68-20. This was followed by a 48-22 loss to San Marcos the very next day, and then a 10-point loss to Wiseburn- Da Vinci. The final score for that game was 41-31.
However, as the viral video has shown, the girls (and their coach) are not letting that 3-1 record get them down.
