Julian Lewis is going to Colorado and this was all thanks to the efforts of Coach Prime himself. After his commitment to the Buffaloes, the five-star quarterback sat down with current Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders and his "2Legendary" podcast to talk football.
In the interview, Sanders asked Lewis how does he stay focused, as there have been a lot of distractions across media. In response, Lewis said that he reminds himself that he is still not in the place he wants to be in.
"I mean I just look at a bigger picture," Julian Lewis told Shedeur Sanders. "I'm obviously not where I'm, where I'm trying to end up, you know. Like, I mean, I'm still a high school, a high school football player. Like, all these deals are nothing if I don't go to college and play and don't keep growing and stuff like that. So, I mean, it's nothing to really be like too hyped up about right now." (3:10-3:24)
Lewis revealed on "The Pat McAfee Show" that he was going to Colorado. He initially committed to play for USC but has since de-committed. The highly-rated recruit made the announcement about a week after he decided not to go to USC.
As for Shedeur Sanders, he is expected to leave Buffalo and join next year's NFL Draft. This would allow Julian Lewis to take up that vacant starting QB slot next year when he finally enrolls in Colorado.
Julian Lewis gives a massive performance in playoff win after committing to the Colorado Buffaloes
Not long after his commitment, Julian Lewis led the Carrolton Trojans to a massive 49-13 victory over Valdosta during the second round of Georgia’s Class 6A playoffs. This included four big touchdown passes from Juju.
The quarterback was giving Colorado a preview of what he could do for them next year as he threw for 280 yards and four touchdowns. This included his three passes to Trojans wide receiver AJ McNeil, including a 62-yard pass that led to a touchdown.
Lewis is playing for the Carrollton Trojans, who are the top-ranked team in Georgia right now. They are also the favorites to win the state's Class 6A championship. During the game, the Colorado commit showed not just his arm strength but also his accuracy.
There is some dispute among the top websites if he is a four-star or a five-star though. On3 and 247Sports list him as a four-star, while ESPN and Rivals say he is a five-star, with ESPN ranking him No. 2 nationally.
