DeVonta Smith, the Philadelphia Eagles' star wide receiver, is having a great summer. The former Heisman Trophy winner is putting in much work at the Eagles' training camp ahead of the 2024 NFL season.
He is not only practicing with his Philadelphia squad, but the receiver is also sweating it out with some of the best high school players at the camp.
In a video posted on Instagram by Rivals.com, Smith can be seen practicing with high school players at a training camp. The former first-round pick ran elite routes against the young cornerbacks who had no chance of stopping him.
Smith showed his skill set as he caught every type of pass and beat every type of coverage during the practice run. The 6-foot-0 receiver was a four-star recruit out of Amite High School and played his college football at Alabama.
He was ranked as the No. 58 overall prospect in the nation and was the 10th-best wide receiver in the country, as per On3 Industry Rankings. He was also ranked as the second-best overall prospect from the state of Louisiana.
A look back at DeVonta Smith's high school career
The Philadelphia Eagles' star wide receiver DeVonta Smith has had a good start to his NFL career. He has already played in a Super Bowl and is a part of one of the best teams in the league.
The Eagles will enter the 2024 NFL season as contenders once again and Smith will play a big part in them being successful this year.
The 6-foot-0 receiver had an impressive high school career at Amite High School in Louisiana. Smith was a dual sport athlete during his high school days as he played both, football and basketball.
As a senior, Smith filled in at wide receiver, tight end and safety, leading Amite to the title game and a Louisiana 3A state runner-up position. He was also named to the Louisiana Sports Writers Association's 3A first-team all-state wide receiver team.
DeVonta Smith was also a track athlete for his high school team. As a senior, he ran a 10.67 100m, a 22.45 200m and a 49.34 400m in his sophomore year. He also triple jumped 45-3.5 as a junior.
Smith generated a lot of interest among some of the best colleges in the country. The wide receiver earned offers from 23 colleges, including Alabama, Florida State, LSU, Arkansas and Auburn among others. He eventually decided to go to the Crimson Tide and ended up winning a Heisman Trophy in 2020.
