Syracuse commit and son of the legendary NBA player Carmelo Anthony, Kiyan Anthony, took to interview players at the NBPA top 100 camp, including some top players such as Brayden Burries, Acaden Lewis, Chris Nwuli, Shon Abaev, and Malachi Moreno, among others.
In the video 'We gave Kiyan Anthony a mic to interview future NBA stars!!' posted by Betweenxthelines on Dec. 8, Anthony talks with Burries about the top hooping states in the country. However, when Burries asks him the question, Anthony names New York, DMV, and Maryland and then snatches the mic from Burries to talk about California:
"How is Cali the top oh my God you can't name me 10 players that's nice out of Cali bro," said Kiyan Anthony. (9:59 - 10:04)
However, Burries claims that "Cali has all the hoopers," and then Anthony realizes that his idol, Paul George, is also from California, making him change his answer immediately:
"PG from Cali yeah PG I mean um Cali number one bro New York New York, New York number two New York number two and DMV number three for sure," said Kiyan Anthony. (10:08 - 10:15)
Anthony had a great year on the court. The Long Island Lutheran High School player averaged 19.6 PPG, 4.6 RPG, and 1.5 APG while playing for his father's team, Team Melo.
Furthermore, he recorded 28 points on 50% shooting from the 3-point line against the Pro Skills Elite on May 28. He showed his scoring prowess in the NBPA Top 100 camp in Orlando, scoring 42 points on 53% shooting and 44.4% from beyond the arc.
Ranked at the 34th spot nationally, 10th in the shooting guard position, and the best player in New York in the Class of 2025, Anthony had offers from Florida State, Providence, and USC before he chose his father's alma mater, Syracuse.
Kiyan Anthony talks about George being his GOAT
The usual conversations about basketball's GOAT revolve around four-time NBA champion LeBron James and six-time NBA champion Michael Jordan, but Kiyan Anthony has a different taste.
However, during Carmelo Anthony's "7 PM in Brooklyn" podcast, the 6-foot-4 shooting guard explains why nine-time NBA All-Star Paul George is his GOAT:
"The smoothness that he plays with. I'm not the only person that be saying like that's my favorite player like Brandon Miller got a lot of heat for it when he first came in the league so just like the way he play like it don't matter about the win," he explained.
Anthony will join Sadiq White, Luke Fennell, and Aaron Womack at Syracuse next season.
