On November 26, media outlets Xports News and Joynews24 revealed that the idol-turned-actor has been cast as the protagonist and is currently filming for the project. According to Cha Hak-yeon’s agency, 51k, the actor was selected for the role after careful consideration. A representative shared with Joynews24,

"We decided to participate because there was a need for an actor who wanted to try acting in various genres."

The Killer Next Door is a BL drama centered on a professional baseball player and one of his fans. Cha Hak-yeon will portray Yoon-je, a devoted fan whose life becomes intertwined with the athlete in unexpected and thrilling ways.

Cha Hak-yeon, known professionally as N (엔), is a multifaceted South Korean entertainer, recognized as a singer, actor, presenter, and radio host under 51k. Born on June 30, 1990, he first rose to fame as a member of the boy group VIXX, debuting in May 2012.

Cha ventured into acting in 2014, making his debut as Noah in MBC's romantic melodrama Hotel King.
