Big Mama's Lee Ji-young recently shared her experience of meeting BTS’ Kim Taehyung for the first time at the Chuncheon 2024 Veteran Cultural Festival. In an interview with Sports Korea, published on November 25, the Big Mama member talked about Taehyung as a practical music and vocal professor at Sungshin Women's University.
She shared that building skills and abilities are crucial in music and that having ethics and manners as musicians is important. She picked Kim Taehyung as an example by sharing her first encounter with the singer at the 2024 Veteran Cultural Festival.
“I had a concert in Chuncheon a while ago. I met BTS’s V there by chance. I was surprised when he came to greet me because he was so handsome. I had never met BTS before, not even during Big Mama or when I was doing solo activities. After the concert, V came to me and greeted me politely,” she said.

Lee Ji-young said she received comments from global fans of the BTS member after sharing the video of their meet.
“I was surprised at how polite he was. I realized that world stars have different personalities and manners. When my meeting with V became known, I received a ton of comments from countries around the world, including Russia, Brazil, and Italy. (Laughs),” she shared.
Lee Ji-young shares Slow Dancing cover after meeting BTS’ Kim Taehyung at the 2024 Veteran Cultural Festival
On June 9, 2024, BTS’ V was spotted patrolling around the 2024 Veteran Cultural Festival in Chuncheon. At the event, he greeted 1st generation K-pop girl group Big Mama's Lee Ji-young, who was there for a performance. For the uninitiated, Kim Taehyung began his military service on December 11, 2024.
The BTS vocalist later joined the special military unit as a part of the Special Duty Team. Notably, the special military unit comes under the direct authority of the 2nd Army Corps and is located in Chuncheon, Gangwon-do Province. As a result, he was seen at the Veteran Cultural Festival.
Following the festival, Lee Ji-young revealed that she listened to V's song Slow Dancing from his first solo album, Layover (2023). On June 15, 2024, she dropped a cover of Slow Dancing on her YouTube and Instagram.
“For the past few days, I’ve been listening to Taehyung solo songs. As I was listening to his song, I really loved Slow Dancing, so I made a cover.”
BTS’ Kim Taehyung's upcoming music releases: Winter Ahead and White Christmas
Despite being busy with his military schedule, BTS’ V is gearing up for his solo music releases, which were recorded before he enlisted. On November 21, Kim Taehyung’s agency, BIGHIT MUSIC, teased the release of his upcoming song, Winter Ahead, featuring South Korean Ballad vocalist Park Hyo-shin.
On November 25, the agency also dropped a teaser of the official music video of Winter Ahead, raising anticipation among V’s fans and music listeners. Winter Ahead's second teaser will be out on November 27, 2024, and the music video is scheduled to be released on November 29, 2024.
BTS’ Kim Taehyung will also release a collaboration song, White Christmas, with the late Bing Crosby on December 6, 2024. Notably, he is expected to be discharged from his military duties in 2025.
