On November 28, 2024, Kim Taehyung, aka V of BTS, posted a clip of him dancing with dancer Lee Jung-lee on Ludacris' What’s Your Fantasy (feat. Shawna) on his Instagram story. Later, he also shared Jung-lee's Instagram reel of their practice session on his story. Meanwhile, V's childhood friend subtly exposed his relationship status on social media.
The Winter Ahead singer-songwriter also commented on Lee Jung-lee's reel and said that he would dance to this song again "next year," hinting at his impending military discharge in June 2025.
"하... Next year I'll do the dance dance one more time."
Astute admirers noted that V's high school friend and music producer-songwriter, Levi (@leviwls), replied to the BTS idol's comment. However, Levi used the word "총각” (chong-gak) at the beginning of his sentence, which translates to being called a "bachelor." He wrote:
“The bachelor is in great shape, man.”
The BTS fandom interpreted Levi's comment as a declaration of V's relationship status, hinting that he is single. One fan hilariously wrote on X:
"Not his friend exposing him like that."
Fans joked about how Levi hilariously hinted that the BTS singer was "ready to mingle."
"Taehyung posting the hottest choreography ever and levi leaving this comment “the bachelor is in good shape” sounds a lot like a “hey look at what you lost” post after a breakup idk I love the energy anyways," one fan wrote.
"Taehyung’s friend calling him a bachelor to announce that he’s officially single and ready to mingle this is so unprovoked," another fan said.
"Like this is exactly how besties would promote you to get you a hot date," one other fan added.
Others said that Levi's comment actually broke the narrative created by a few fans who claim to "ship" BTS' V with other idols. The term "ship" or "shipping" is an internet slang for when a group of people want two people (usually celebrities or fictional characters) to date by "shipping" (encouraging) them together.
"Of all the things that could still happen this year in kth city I never thought levi would come out and casually end ALL shipping factions involving taehyung," one fan said.
"That what good friends mean!!!! Levi just saved Tae from all shipperrrrsssss," another fan added.
"So all of them are really single and sick of it. Run jin blind dates and his recent songs/promo, hobi doing a variety show about how he lives as a single man, joon on live asking us to introduce him to someone and now this with tae,,, i feel bad but i can't stop laughing," another fan shared.
BTS' Taehyung and Park Hyo-shin drop the official music video of Winter Ahead
Kim Taehyung, popularly known as V from BTS, released his highly anticipated music video for Winter Ahead on November 29, 2024. The track, a duet with celebrated vocalist Park Hyo-shin, has already been hailed as a masterpiece by fans and critics alike.
The video combines poignant storytelling, striking visuals, and the soulful tones of V's baritone voice, perfectly complementing Park Hyo-shin’s rich vocals.
Winter Ahead explores themes of companionship and introspection as the seasons change. Set against a snowy backdrop, the music video narrates the story of two parallel characters (BTS' V) who rediscover joy and purpose in life, however, the story ends with a twist. Taehyung portrays a reclusive sculptor, working tirelessly on a statue that symbolizes lost love and memories.
The video highlights how Taehyung can bring his sculptures to life or perhaps he hallucinated them coming to life due to his utter loneliness and melancholic life. The female lead in the music video was a sculpture he was seen working on in the beginning; the elderlies, the dancers, everyone was just a fragment of his imagination.
However, the video ends with him coming face-to-face with his doppelgänger wearing a black fur coat and dark black-and-red color mixed with blood trickling down his face. V realizes that it was he who has been the piece of the other Taehyung's imagination as he gets a flashback of V sculpting another statue with a cross mark right below his right ear.
V realizes he has that same mark under his right ear, coming to terms with the fact that he isn't real. With tears in his eyes, he accepts his reality and gives a sad smile to his creator while the end credits roll.
The narrative is laced with emotional depth, showcasing scenes of creative struggles and fleeting moments of shared warmth. It captures the bittersweetness of winter as both an end and a beginning—a metaphor for life’s cyclical nature.
In other news, BTS' Taehyung has been serving in the South Korean military's Special Forces unit—SDT (Special Duty Team)—and will be discharged in June 2025.
