Park Chan-wook is a South Korean film director, screenwriter, and producer who is known for some of the best South Korean films, such as The Vengeance Trilogy, Decision to Leave, The Handmaiden, Stoker, and many more. He is particularly known for exploring a mixture of genres such as crime, mystery, thriller, and dark humor.

Therefore, when the picture landed on the internet, many fans and netizens were not only thrilled about the interaction, but they were also curious as to why the two met or what they talked about. Park Chan-wook began his work in the industry in 1992 with the feature film, The Moon Is...the Sun's Dream. While he released another film around five years later called Trio, the director's works were still fairly unpopular. However, he landed his big break in 2002 with the movie Joint Security Area, which became the most-watched South Korean film at that time.

Soon, he released his famous trilogy movie series in the coming years called the Vengeance Trilogy. The three movies, Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, Oldboy, and Lady Vengeance, were critically acclaimed, with Oldboy winning the Grand Prix at the 2004 Cannes Film Festival. He continued to release intriguing pieces such as I'm a Cyborg, But That's Okay, The Handmaiden, etc.

In 2013, he released his first English-language film, Stoker. His 2016 film The Handmaiden, which was a remake of Sarah Waters' historical crime novel, Fingersmith, began to garner much attention. He has also bagged a countless number of awards, such as Best Film at the 2001 Deauville Asian Film Festival, Best Director at the 26th Blue Dragon Film Awards, Best Screenplay at the 11th Asian Film Awards, Grand Prize- Film at the 53rd Baeksang Arts Awards, Director Awards at the 2022 Critics Choice Awards, and Best Film at the 61st Baeksang Arts Awards.
