Claims of Disney suspending Snow White from its parks recently went viral after news outlet Inside The Magic seemingly suggested the same in their headline for an article dated April 21, 2024. The phrasing of the headline stated that the character would not be appearing in its parks anymore due to an ongoing investigation. However, that is far from the truth.

The character of Snow White will continue to stay at the location, but Sophia Dottir, an employee who took on the role of the animated princess, has been terminated from her position after she allegedly violated certain regulations for Disney Park employees.

On April 21, news outlet Inside The Magic released an article, titled "Disney Suspends Snow White’s Presence In Theme Parks Indefinitely Amid Ongoing Investigation." The beginning of the article suggested that "Snow White won't be seeing the most magical place any longer,' thus sparking rumors about the parks suspending the character.

However, if one reads further into the article, it has been clarified that the Disney princess will continue to remain at the venue. It was also mentioned that a Disney employee who took on the role of the character was the one who had been fired for allegedly being in violation of Disney Park regulations and posting herself dressed as her character online.

Disney is not suspending the character of Snow White

As the aforementioned article progressed, it was clarified that a performer who took on the role of the princess would not remain an employee.

The article then explained why influencer and now-former Disney employee Sophia Dottir was terminated from her position.

In a YouTube video, titled What the He!! Happened (Being Fired From WDW), Sophia Dottir revealed that she was fired from the Disney park because she broke Disney’s protocols regarding character integrity after she posted photos on Instagram that revealed she played Snow White.

For those uninitiated, Disney has strict rules that forbid their park’s cast members from revealing which character they perform in the theme park. The theme park has established such regulations to ensure that the integrity of a Disney character is maintained, as they wish to create the illusion that there is only one of every character.

To ensure the same, Disney employees are asked to state that they are “friends” with certain characters, which would indicate that they play the character.

This would also mean that employees are not allowed to reveal their character online or to fellow employees. This is also why guests visiting the park are not allowed to dress in full costumes that mimic any Disney character.

However, Sophia Dottir seemingly broke the illusion by revealing on social media that she plays the character of Snow White in the theme park. Furthermore, she shared on her public Instagram account that she has also played Anna from Frozen.

In the aforementioned YouTube video, Dottir also recalled that she had once, as a child, visited the Akershus Royal Banquet Hall, dressed as Snow White. She then stated that it was a surreal moment for her to be shifted to the EPCOT location, thus hinting that she was playing the character, without mentioning the Disney princess’ name.

In the video, Dottir also shared that she was not pleased with the way Disney treated their employees. She recalled her experience of allegedly being reprimanded by the company for being sick and missing her shift, despite her showing her employer a doctor’s note.

As per Inside The Magic, Dottir's video soon came under Disney's radar, and they terminated her after she posted a picture of herself in the princess costume as a child. However, as mentioned before, only the concerned employee has been terminated and the character shall remain at theme parks.
