Lifetime is here with another crime thriller film, titled Kidnapped by a Killer: The Heather Robinson Story, which airs today, June 7, 2025, on the channel. The film follows the case of Heather Robinson, whose life was turned upside down when she discovered a shocking truth about her family and identity.

Heather grew up in a loving family in Illinois and was aware that she was an adopted child. She was adopted by the Robinson family as an infant, and she believed that her godfather, John Robinson, had simply helped arrange the process.

But in 2000, Robinson learned the truth. She came to know that the man she knew as her godfather and her uncle was a serial killer. He was accused of murdering several women in the Kansas City area, including her biological mother.

It was only after her uncle was arrested that Heather came to know the shocking truth about her birth mother’s disappearance. Lifetime's Kidnapped by a Killer: The Heather Robinson Story is a dramatized retelling of the incident, starring Steve Guttenberg, Rachel Stubington, and more.

Steven Robert Guttenberg is an American actor, author, producer, and director, who is best known for his role as Carey Mahoney in the Police Academy (1984 to 1987). He also starred in Three Men and a Baby (1987), its sequel, Diner (1982), Short Circuit (1986), The Big Green (1995), and A Novel Romance (2011), among other movies.

Guttenberg began his career in television with the CBS sitcom Billy (1979), and since then, he has appeared as Woody Goodman in Veronica Mars (2005–2006), Dr. Katman in The Goldbergs (2017–2023), and more. Guttenberg will star as John Robinson, Heather's serial killer uncle, in Lifetime's Kidnapped by a Killer: The Heather Robinson Story.
