Dragonheart star Dennis Quaid recently opened up on the time he spent with Tupac Shakur in films before the latter died in 1996. The duo shared the screen in the action crime thriller Gang Related, which came out in 1997. It was directed by Jim Kouf.

A clip of Quaid has been trending on social media from his appearance on the PBD Podcast on August 3, 2024, where he became emotional as he remembered Tupac Shakur.

During the interview, while Dennis Quaid was taking questions from the audience, host Patrick Bet-David asked him about Gang Related and his experience working with Tupac. Dennis replied:

"Oh man that was like, that was so great. That little movie and uh Tupac and you know I was kind of familiar with Tupac when we did that movie. We both love Chinese food it turns out you know and he and I would be in the trailer like every day."

Apart from Dennis Quaid and Tupac Shakur, Gang Related had several popular faces in the lead, such as James Belushi. The film grossed around $5.9 million at the box office despite getting a mixed reaction from critics.

Tupac Shakur had many other films in his credits, and his first major role was in the crime drama thriller, Juice. He also appeared in TV shows such as A Different World and In Living Color.

Dennis Quaid reveals more details on the bond he shared with Tupac Shakur

During his latest interview on the PBD Podcast, Quaid revealed that he and Tupac bonded over Chinese food for around five days, and the audience could be heard laughing at the time. He added that they had a lot of conversations about acting and their early lives. Quaid continued:

"He had such a great heart as a kid. He was such a talented actor too and he had a thirst to learn and I did know he was a poet. He told the story of how they tried to kill him before in New York. It was hysterical, the way he told it but it was like for real. And then 6 months later, he got killed."

Dennis Quaid became silent for a few seconds and said that the incident left an impact on him. He mentioned that Tupac could have united people, and the latter was a person who could not be referred to as someone who belonged to a specific group.

Patrick Bet-David then addressed the fact that Tupac did not get to see the final cut of Gang Related and asked Quaid how Tupac was cast in the film. Quaid described Tupac as a "vulnerable person" and a person who had a "poet's heart." Quaid added:

"It was his vulnerability and his willingness and his curiosity about other people, including me. We were kind of like you never put the two of us together eating Chinese food in the trailer but you know there we were."
