Nutcrackers initially premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in 2024. Hulu and Disney+ received distribution rights to this American comedy film. Directed by David Gordon, the movie stars Ben Stiller as a real estate developer in Chicago. Stiller returns as a lead actor after seven years of being busy as a director.

The movie is titled Nutcrackers because it culminates in the four boys re-telling the famous Christmas movie The Nutcracker. In the story, the boys’ mother was a ballet teacher and trained them to perform on stage.

The boys are four real-life siblings, played by Homer, Ulysses, Atlas, and Arlo. They are trained ballet dancers, and some scenes in the movie have been shot at their dance studio. Besides Stiller, who plays Michael Stiller, the Nutcrackers cast includes Linda Cardellini, Edi Patterson, Tim Heidecker, and Toby Huss.

Ben Stiller has a decades-long career in acting. In this movie, he plays a real estate professional from Chicago. The plot begins with Stiller’s character being informed that his sister and her husband died in a car accident. Michael inherits their house, the farm, and four boys in a small town in Ohio. Also called Uncle Mike by the boys, he believes he only has to make a quick trip to Ohio, sign some papers, and find a foster family for his nephews.

Stiller is known for his work in The Cable Guy, Zoolander, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, and Along Came Polly.

2) Linda Cardellini as Gretchen

Cardellini’s character is a family services worker. She helps Stiller’s character find a foster family for his sister’s four sons. In the official trailer, her character asks Michael to look after them since it’s Christmas time and options for foster families are limited.

Cardellini is notably known for her roles in Dead to Me (for which she earned an Emmy nominee), Scooby-Doo, and TV show Freaks and Geeks. She also starred in the medical drama series ER.

3) Homer Janson as Justice Kicklighter

Homer Janson plays the role of Justice, one of the boys in Nutcrackers. This movie will mark the acting debut of the 12-year-old boy. He tells Stiller’s character in the trailer,

"I guess what Mom said about you is true. She said you’re incapable of love."

4) Ulysses Janson as Junior Kicklighter

Ulysses plays the role of Junior. Like his brother Homer, this movie will mark his acting debut.

5) Atlas Janson as Samuel Kicklighter

Atlas Janson is one of the twins of the Janson family, portraying the role of Samuel Kicklighter in Nutcrackers. Like his brothers, this is the first time acting in a feature film.
