As previously mentioned, these protests were being held across the United States in response to the recent crackdown on immigrants through government-sanctioned ICE raids.
Mark Ruffalo, who has been quite open with his political activism, attended one of the protests that took place in Bryant Park, New York City, as reported by People in their June 14, 2025, article. During the event, Ruffalo emphasized feelings of community and security and highlighted how they were important for him and his family. He said:
"We're holding on for dear life and what's dear to us about being alive. What's dear to me is the feeling of calm and peace and safety. What's dear to me is my health and my family and my friends and my work and my neighbors and my community and all the different beautiful people of this country."
