Adding to the restlessness of the fandom, this news suggests that the film would kick off a bigger storyline. Much to fans' surprise, Bonaventura already teased Transformers: One to become a “natural” trilogy of films. That happened during an interview with Collider, where the producer talked about the storyline, animation and other possibilities like a live-action adaptation.

However, the sequel is still up in the air with no official confirmation, and the only thing that could turn it into a reality is simply the first film's success, which could turn the dream into something far more concrete. Read on to learn more.

While speaking to Screen Rant, Bonaventura coined the possibility of a sequel, and he also revealed that to make that happen, Transformers: One has to become an overwhelming success.

Although he didn’t reveal much, the expectations for the creative team hinge on positive reception and a strong box office performance, and these two aspects are enough to justify future installments. Here’s what the producer had to say to Screen Rant regarding the sequel of Transformers: One:

"Number one, if we're successful with this movie, we're going to do a sequel for this. And we already have, I think, the beginnings of a really interesting story for the second one, which is also character-based, the way the first [is]."

While speaking to Collider about the upcoming film, Bonaventura also teased a subtle roadmap for future films without delving much into the details. The producer not only expressed his immense excitement for the film but also hinted at other possibilities that could be a game changer. Here’s what the producer said:

"We’re hoping that there is enough emotional construct to that, that would lead to a trilogy of it because, personally, I think there's a natural trilogy. I'm not always looking to do multiple movies, but there's a natural trilogy around their relationship."

He continued:

"So, you're going to see Cybertron in a way you've never seen it, that no one's ever seen it before. Because we're doing an animation, we're allowed to really go all out. If you tried to make this live-action, it would probably be a billion-dollar movie or something."
