Ice Spice and Central Cee (Cench) came together for their first career collaboration on Did It First, which was distributed to all streaming platforms last Friday (July 12) via Dolo Entertainment, under an exclusive license to UMG Recordings and 10K Projects LLC.

The track went viral after rumors of both artists being engaged in a romantic relationship spread online, starting with a video captured of Cee and Spice shopping together.

Not long after the track's release, the UK rapper's girlfriend Madeline Argy took to social media to issue a statement against Central Cee where she alleged he had been cheating on her with Ice Spice.

“Let me tell you about how I did not know that any of this was going to f--king happen. What the f--k, not only did you just snitch on yourself that you’re cheating, but you just told me exactly how. He tells me it’s just marketing, and I know how the internet works so I just forget about it.”

She continued,

“I’m thinking this conversation’s going to be on love, our relationship, so tell me why 10 hours later he’s posted up with a f--king baddie… I didn’t even get to break up with him and he’s already with the next girl!”

Madeline claimed that Cench was already involved with Ice Spice and only broke up with her after Spice's flight to the UK had taken off when she said,

“He gave me not even 12 hours notice before he was being filmed in Chrome Hearts with her. The flight from America is 12 hours, she was already on the f--king plane."

Although these rumors are yet to be confirmed by official sources or by the individual artist's representatives, Argy's statement led to an online frenzy amongst Spice and Cee's fanbase. Netizens began trying to piece together information within the song to confirm these allegations.

"If he's cheatin', I'm doin' him worse (Like) / No Uno, I hit the reverse (Grrah) / I ain't trippin', the grip in my purse (Grrah) / I don't care 'cause he did it first (Like)" x 2

Ice opens Did It First with a catchy hook that compliments the funky-drill production of the track. Even the visuals fit in line with the track's composition, mixing HD shots with VHR-type footage.

Within the first few lines, Ice Spice makes it clear she has the nature to take revenge. The rapper highlights how she is not against causing her partner significantly more pain if he ever treats her wrong. The same bar repeats twice before listeners are introduced to her verse.

"He beg me to stay, but I'm dippin' / I don't even drink, but I'm sippin' / We not f--kin', but he put the tip in (Grrah) / He get on my nerves, but I'm with it (Grrah) / I start thinkin' when he get up in it / I'm like, Damn, I knеw you for a minute (Damn)"

Ice then delivers her verse, where off the bat listeners pick up on her simple rhyme scheme, which is driven to fit the beat's tempo. The lyricism isn't extraordinary or deep in any form, but the negative intentions toward her partner are made clear.

The rapper wishes for her partner to realize her worth before she leaves him for somebody better, while also reflecting on how they came to be involved in this relationship.

"I don't want them n----s in our business (Likе) / I'm like, Bae, you know you the realest (Grrah) / I'm like, F--k it, I know he gon' spend (Like) / I'm with Tati and her thotty friend / We like, F--k it, we f--kin' his friends (Grrah) / We gon' party 'til the party ends"

Ice Spice continues on this theme of infidelity by alluding to instances where their intimacy wasn't strong because of her fame and status, citing how too many people were involved.

She ends the bar by stating that she'd much rather hang out with her girlfriends and alludes to their provocative nature when she suggests sleeping with all of her partner's friends at a party.

"I'm a baddie, he f--k with my tats (Like) / Big b--bs and it come with a jatt / Say he don't want me, I know he a cap (Cap) / Oh, you cheatin'? Then I'm cheatin' back"

She ends the verse by asserting status by flexing the physical attraction her partner has towards her body and appearance.

Ice then claims that she knows her partner is lying when he says he doesn't want her back and states that if he cheats on her, she'd do the same in a toxic "tit-for-tat" situation. The hook repeats before Central Cee opens on the song's second verse.

(Verse 2)

"I'm selective with who I get with / Gyal on my phone tryna see who I slept with / She investigating, detective / Lucky for me, I deleted the message"

Central Cee's verse, compared to Ice's verse, is more detailed and finds him jumping in between various sonic pockets to build out a cohesive storyline around his alleged "cheating" instances.

Cench claims he's "selective" with who gets intimate with before highlighting moments where he was almost caught by his partner for cheating on their relationship. He suggests that deleting and hiding his messages played a big part in being able to maintain this toxic secrecy.

"All along, it was me and a bad b---h / But I told her it was me and my bredrin / By the end of this verse, I'll be done / I guess we gon' see in like sixteen seconds / If I went court for all of the times I got caught, I'd have about sixteen felons"

Cee highlights how whenever his partner would ask him where he was going or who he was hanging out with, the rapper would comfort her by stating he was with his friends to hide the fact that he was sleeping with another woman.

The rapper also proclaims that he's been caught 16 times during his relationship and compares these instances of infidelity to catching "felony charges."

"I keep comin' with stupid excuses like, I was juiced and tripped and fell in / I might take the risk DMin' / But I don't know 'cause these chicks be tellin' / At the minute, I'm hittin' some risky women / I clearly ain't learn my lesson"

Cee then highlights that he doesn't put much effort into explaining why he was being unfaithful and suggests he may continue to "risk" indulging in these vices.

Cench ends the verse by stating that dating on social media is difficult and a "risk" to his public profile, given his fame, by citing that most women he's been with usually like to post their intimate relationships online.

The track's chorus repeats one last time before Did It First officially ends.

Although Ice Spice and Central Cee's first collaboration primarily includes surface-level lyricism revolving around relationship issues, the duo put together a fun, bouncy, and visually appealing record with Did It First.

The other singles Ice Spice has released as part of the Y2K!'s album rollout includes Phat Butt, Think You The Sh*t (Fart), and Gimmie A Light.
