A day after Drake sued Universal Music Group (UMG) and Spotify for illegally boosting the sales of Kendrick Lamar's Not Like Us, the song returned to the U.S. Apple Music Top 20 list. On Tuesday, November 26, 2024, KWORB, a website that collects and tabulates music data from various streaming sites, showed the track at the #20 spot on Apple Music.

As news of the development spread, internet users were quick to call out Drizzy. One stated:

"Drake gonna sue Apple next."

Many quipped that the Toronto-born rapper should sue himself. Here are some comments seen under @PopCrave's post on X:

"glad everyone understood the assignment," one quipped.
"this has been the funniest year in music ever," a fan commented.
"Now Drake gotta sue himself," another added.

Others joked about the timing of Drizzy's lawsuit coinciding with Not Like Us charting in the U.S.

"Well that backfired," another stated.
"Drake is calling his lawyers right now to update the lawsuit," a user remarked.
"Kinda poetic," one person added.

On Tuesday Drake filed a second motion against UMG accusing them of releasing Kendrick Lamar's Not Like Us despite p*dophilia claims

Earlier this year, Drake and K. Dot were involved in a rap beef, with both dropping diss tracks after another, targeting the other's career and personal life. This included the Toronto native's Taylor Made Freestyle and The Heart Part 6 and K. Dot's Euphoria and Not Like Us. Critics believe the latter song won Lamar the beef.

In July Kendrick dropped a music video for the song that went viral. It currently boasts 178 million views and over five million likes. In the track, the Compton rapper alleges Drizzy is a p*dophile on several occasions. This includes bars like "Certified Lover Boy? Certified p*dophile," "Say, Drake, I hear you like 'em young," and "Tryna strike a chord and it's probably A minor."

On Monday, the Toronto-born rapper filed a motion against Universal Music Group (UMG) and Spotify. He accused the companies of manipulating streams using bots, payola, and other methods to boost streams of Kendrick's track.

It is to be noted that both Drake and Kendrick Lamar are associated with UMG through their respective labels. Drake's motion claimed that UMG violated federal RICO laws and used deceptive business practices and false advertising.

Per a November 2024 article by Billboard, the Hotline Bling hitmaker filed a second petition against UMG, accusing the music giant of defamation. He claimed that the company knew Kendrick's track "falsely" called him a "certified ped*phile" and chose to release the song. Citing the publication, Billboard wrote:

"(UMG) could have refused to release or distribute the song or required the offending material to be edited and/or removed."

It continued:

"But UMG chose to do the opposite. UMG designed, financed and then executed a plan to turn ‘Not Like Us’ into a viral mega-hit with the intent of using the spectacle of harm to Drake and his businesses to drive consumer hysteria and, of course, massive revenues."

Both filings are not lawsuits but rather "pre-action" petitions that could potentially lead to one.

In a statement made to Billboard, UMG denied accusations made in the first motion, calling them "offensive and untrue." Kendrick Lamar has not publicly reacted to the development.
